HI guys - I'm still new - ( I am a girl yes and know very little about cars) I own A Vue 03 automatic and I LOVE IT!! But just in the last month here are the problems I started to expirience.. PLEASE HELP OR ADVISE!! (I just would rather try to fix thing by myself then have the dealer charge me an arm and a leg!!

1) my Front power outlet the one that is in the front panel with the window switches doesn't work - I had them look at it when I had my last oil change and they said it was the fuse - they replaced the fuse and I kid you not after about 2 weeks it didn't work any more I checked the fuse it looks intact not burnt or anything (i don't know what I should be looking for but it looked like all the others)

2) My heated seat on my driver side stopped working - Passenger side works great but mine doesn't. I checked the cables under the seat they are securly plugged in The toggle switch still lights up - I don't have an Ohm meter to test current is there anything else I can check?

3) Now there is a funky noise that occurs when I turn my steering wheel more than 45 degrees in either direction. it sounds like plastic rubbing on plastic or a squeeky door?? It's kinda hard to describe - I read that maybe putting WD40 or greasing it up may help -

If it helps any I live in St. Louis and had a terrible Ice storm and my vue was stored in an open garage. Please help as best you can. Thanks!!

As for your power outlet, it is possible that it is a blown fuse. To check, take it out and see if the thin piece of metal inside is burnt up or just not one piece total. If the fuse is good, it may just be a loose connection on the back of it. Or just a bad outlet....

2. If your heated seats dont work, it is either the switch or one of the 2 heating elements. Not much else on that circuit.

3. That sound can be cured by lubricating the intermediate shaft, between the shaft and the rubber bellows around it.

IF the fuse for the power outlet is blown again, make sure that there isn't something metallic that has fallen into the power outlet and shorting across the contacts. Coins and the foil from gum wrappers are two of the most common culprits. (This was more common with cig. lighters built into ash trays, but don't overlook it.) Also don't rule out a problem with whatever device you are plugging into it. I had a radar detector cord go bad and blow the cig. lighter fuse on one of my cars. Welcome to the forums and congratulations for having the "guts" to become a more informed car owner and try to sort your way through repair issues without instantly surrendering and calling the repair shop.

I had the same thing happen to my heated seats and it control module on the `04 Vue. I believe it is call the BCM. And the steering was the upper steering shaft and they had to replace it. Both were under warranty thank goodness.

is the squeaky steering from turning the wheel itself? each time you turn the steering wheel it squeaks?

or do you only hear it while you are driving, like pulling into a driveway, or around a corner?

Did this cure the problem 100 percent?

I seem to notice mine squeeking more in cooler temperatures... even days after having it lubricated.

It's not really a huge issue, but would be to get rid of it permanently.
(This is out of my element, but could replacing the rubber bellows fix it?)
