I just got the new Car and Driver today and the new production version of the Vue is in it. The story talks about a 164hp 2.4(Ecotech I assume), 215hp 3.5, and a 250hp 3.6. The article also mentions that it goes on sale this spring. Is that true? When does current Vue production at Spring Hill end?

One article I read said the VUE and the ION was both going out of production in March.

The production version looks decent. Check out the article from the Detroit News from the other day... it's about GM getting away from minivans (the Relay is dead) but it also goes on to talk about the Spring Hill plant etc...

"Down at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee, union leaders vented frustration at the automaker's decision to cancel the minivan.

GM has no concrete plans to build a new car or truck at the factory next year, when production of the Saturn Vue sport utility vehicle moves to Mexico, according to a union memo Tuesday. GM is also discontinuing production of the Saturn Ion sedan, the other vehicle built in Spring Hill.

The plant has been somewhat of an anomaly within GM since Saturn was launched in 1990 to compete with low-cost imports like Toyota, Honda and Nissan.

"Now with only four months left before we cease production of the Ion and Vue, we still have nothing tangible to call our own," UAW Local 1853 President Mike O'Rourke said in the newsletter to members.

GM's Clarke said the company has no plans to stop using the factory and has other products that could potentially be built there."

If you mean the pics at the C&D link, those are of the Opel Antara and the Prevue concept--not the production VUE.

Yes, those are the pics. I do think it looks decent, but perhpas not as nice as some of the other current Opel/Vauxhaull products. Opel has some very nice looking rides.. the current Astra, Corsa, and Vectra all look very sporty/sophisticated etc., in my opinion.

From what I've read though from all the papers/forums/"spy shots" etc, is that the only thing that's apparently to be different between the production Opel Antara on sale now and the production '08 Vue are the grills and badges, and possibly the interior. Guess we'll all have to wait a few more weeks until the "official unveiling" at the LA Autoshow.

Haha... if GM did actually build a vehicle today that looked exactly like that PreVue concept, that would be very cool....

Actually, the wait is two days.;)

LAIAS 2007 media preview days are November 29 and 30. GM will make their new product introductions on the morning of the 29th.

Car and Driver is not spot-on with regard to the 2008 Vue's HP numbers provided by the original poster, but they are very close.

Those horsepower numbers are accurate according to GM's press release.
