Thinking of buying a Vue. if they get around to making a VTi. I live in Ottawa, Canada - big time salt and winter climate. Acording to the brochures the frame and steel panels are galvanized. Does anyone know if this is one or two sided galvanizing? Sure an outer galvanizing will keep rust away, at least if it doesn't get scraped off. However serious rust almost always starts from the inside out - thus one sided galvanizing has little advantage. The prudent thing is always to have the cavities sprayed with oil waxes such as Krown but the cost of this adds up over the years. A two sided galvanizing would be great. Who knows for certain? Thanks.

Don't worry much, Saturn's rust warranty is still 5 yrs/100k cover.....besides the VUE is wrapped by Polymer all around with 8" of ground clearance (easier to clear out water).

From what I understand, all current GM frames are galvanized on all sides (in and out) and then are dipped in a thick (relatively speaking) waxy coating to further "seal" out water. Body pannels (steel) are two side galvanized EXCEPT the roof. It is galv. on the outside only. This is the way GM trucks are built, I am assuming the Vue is built in a similar fashion.

The spaceframe is galvanized on all sides. The sheetsteel comes into Body Systems as galvanized sheet stock. After forming and assembly the entier spaceframs is dipped and sprayed in an electronic coating (E-coat). Hand sealing and caulking completes the porcess.
