Will a need for speed cause long term damage?

I travel on the freeway alot and unfortunately have developed a lead foot. I find myself averaging betweeen 75 and 85 miles per hour to keep from getting run over by my fellow tennesseans. Will there be any long term damage to my V6 VUE by traveling at such speeds on the interstate on a regular basis. (i.e 2k per month) My tach averages around 2500 to 3000 rpm's while crusing at these speeds on the freeway. It should be noted that I am not rawhiding the engine, just traveling at highways speeds.

highway driving won't hurt it. i've driven to spring hill a few times and 75-85 mph is nothing to worry about.

The engine contains lots of parts spinning rapidly. If they are all at a fairly constant speed, then everything's fine.

It's when you start changing engine RPM frequently and rapidly that wear can occur.

I wouldn't worry about highway speeds. They are well within specification.

Well this might be too late for you, but for other readers...

SLOW DOWN FOR THE FIRST 500 MILES!

I don't have a VUE, but every other vehicle I've owned recommended being gentle during the first 500 miles and not exceeding 60 mph.

Let all those parts get to know each other first, OK?

That engine could run forever at 2500 rpm ... even 3000..

An occasional redline is ok. I havent had any problems yet :D
