Hello
My 03 Vue V-6 odometer has gone nuts and is stuck on 694,978 miles. While I would love to get that many miles, It is annoying. QUESTION: When I take to the dealer will the computer reset the miles at the correct mileage or will they guesstimate what it should be. The last time I was at dealer (stopped going too much $$$) it was at 60K on 9/29/05. Thanks for anyones help.

There's tools that you can buy that will set/reset anything digital on your car. The dealership might not have one on hand, because that tool is one step away from odometer fraud; you can simply turn the clock back to 0 miles with one of those.
Have you tried unhooking the battery for half an hour? It might work.

Anything else go haywire? More than likely, you have a BCM failing, and needs replaced...when the new BCM is reprogrammed, the PCM will update the BCM with the real mileage reading. If that doesnt work, they will put in what you guesstimate it should be as long as it is reasonably higher than what your last visit mileage was....

Oh no they won't. That's called odometer fraud and Saturn won't do it. If the mileage isn't correct when they replace the BCM, your odometer will read "0" again and they will put a sticker on your driver's door jamb saying the odometer was replaced and the mileage on the car is not actual mileage and the date it was replaced, etc. Your title will then read TMU-True Mileage Unknown.

The title will read TMU only if you mark it. The Saturn service dept has no access to your title.
It would be up to you and the next owner to come to an agreement. And most of all, be honest.

I didn't say Saturn would brand your title, but if you're an honest person, you will disclose the information to the next owner and the title will be properly branded as TMU...of course there are little things like CarFax and similar services that will show the odometer discrepancy regardless of what the owner does....but the big sticker on the door jamb will be a dead giveaway that the odometer has been changed. Of course, there's always the federal paperwork completed anytime an odometer is changed in a dealership and exact mileage isn't known.
