I installed a Sirius receiver in my wife's Vue last night and ran into a problem with the aux port below the radio. I ran the antenna wire throught the front console, which required the removal of the plastic frame around the gear shift that houses the aux port, window and mirror controls. I stupidliy tried to disconnect the aux port, but all I managed to do was remove a little blue plastic clip on the back side. I put the clip back on, replaced the plastic frame, plugged in the radio reciever and...no power.

Everything looks fine in the sense that there are two wires (an orange and a black) secured firmly to the back of the aux port, but no juice. I plugged in a cell phone charger and confirmed that there was no power.

I then plugged the ac adapter into the aux port at the rear of the center console and the receiver powered up just fine. So what did I do? Are there any tests that I can do with a multimeter to see if there is power?

I have not checked the fuse yet, which I plan to do this evening, but my wife said the port worked yesterday when she plugged in her cell phone. What are the chances that a fuse blew at approximately the same time I started messing with aux port? I'm figuring that I messed something up while I was poking around. Does anyone have an suggestions that I can try to diagnose the problem?

And one more thing. Do the Vue's aux ports run on different fuses, and if so, is the fuse for the aux port in the dash clearly marked in the enging fuse box and/or the interrior fuse box? I don't know where the fuse would be.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Check the fuses. The owners manual will have the locations of the fuse boxes and a listing of all of the fuses in them. As well as what each fuse powers/protects.

If it helps...

The fuse box on my 2003 vue is located near the passengers left foot. It is a plastic panel that snaps out from the center console. On the back of the plastic the fuse positions and short descriptions are labeled. Beware though they are just stamped in the plastic so there is almost no contrast and is very hard to read. It made me want to take a piece of paper and a pencil and do the same thing you do to record gravestone etchings. Maybe I could take the panel in the house and mark it with a permanent marker to make it more readable?!>

Cheers.
