I have a 2005 4 cylinder Vue. I am experiencing vapor similar to that from dry ice that comes through the A/C vents. The vapor appears sometimes. At times the unit seems to work very well, and other times it struggles. Any one have any idea what this is or have similar experiences?

If it isn't the faint sweet smell of anti-freeze leaking in the heater core then its most likely the water condensation not draining quickly and possibly freezing on the evaporator coils. The hint may be that you state sometimes the a/c struggles to cool and may indicate the beginning of an a/c problem. The a/c system won't cool below approximately 40 degrees F. unless a loss of refrigerant occurs or something prevents the expansion valve from operating correctly in governing the temperature well above freezing. If there's a warranty left bring it into the dealership otherwise you might have to try the local a/c shop that can assess the situation.;)

Not so uncommon in home A/Cs when extremely hot and humid. Sounds like you're getting some freezing, and the drop in output sounds like a defrost cycle.

That's what I was thinking too. I had that happen to my home a/c and had to clean the condenser coil. What I don't know is if this is a problem, or the way it's supposed to work.
