I arrived home from work this evening and was promptly informed that the 2003 VUE was dead. And when I say dead, I mean "as a door nail." I had a friend jump the VUE and I was amazed to discover (after about 5 minutes when it finally turned over) that the high beams were on and I could not switch them off! I have pulled the two headlamp fuses. But the high beam indicator will not go off. Any ideas before I spend a boatload at the dealer doing diagnostic work??
Thanks in advance.

I have heard of a few BCMs (Body control module) getting cooked from jump starts. You may want to try disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes in an attempt to reset the BCM.

Cant hurt to try, but it sounds like it is toast.....
Anything else being wacky or not working right? Power locks, windows, sunroof, A/C, key fobs, passlock, radio, etc?

So this is interesting... All of the electronics appear to be fine with a couple of minor exceptions: The clock is wrong. And the radio channel presets seem to have defaulted to factory settings. That sounds like the battery was effectively disconnected.
The only thing I can't do is turn the left turn signal on. Which is, of course, on the same arm that controls the high beams. Right works fine. But the left won't come on at all and the arm doesn't "click and stick" like the right does. Also, when I pull to switch on the high beams it doesn't "click" like I'm used to.
So my guess is that the turn signal/high beam arm got jacked some how and that caused the high beams to short on and drain the battery. The car had probably been sitting there for about 20+ hours and clearly it was D-E-A-D.
