security light flashes???

I have a 02 Vue and my wife usually drives it. My truck was in for service so we were using her car this weekend. I haven't driven her car since we got it (except for the initial drive home). Yesterday the security light starts flashing. The guys we bought the Vue from (used) say they cannot tell me how to reset the system (or even what is causing the problem). The nearest saturn dealer is 3 hours away. Any ideas would be appreciated.

When is it flashing - when you are going down the road?

If it is flashing when parked, and you have locked it with the remote, that is normal.

The light I am talking about is the instrument cluster security warning light not the one on the dash. It flashes when going down the road and when parked. I do not know if the Vue is confused by my other chipped key (F150).

The one in the cluster is the one I am referring to. There is no seperate light on the dashboard - just the cluster light.

If it is flashing going down the road there is a problem. Your F150 key is not the problem, however - as there are no transponders in the VUE keys.

You have one of a few things.

1. A bad passlock sensor in the ign cyl housing.
2. A bad BCM. (Most probable)
3. A bad PCM, not likely though.....

Those are the 3 main things that affect that light coming on and off.
