View Full Version : OLM Question
OK, I've gone through the manual...I'm looking for a way to get the current OLM reading other than waiting for my monthly Onstar email report. I'm about to change over to synthetic Mobil1 so I'm going to reset the OLM at that time, but I'd like to know what the reading is when I change the oil. I've got an OBDII/CAN scan tool, but I just don't know which register to tickle to get the info.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,

I think the only way to pull the percentage is using a Tech II (the scanner at the retailer). I could be wrong, though.
You could probably get a good idea by correlating mileage to percentage. It's not linear, but it will get you in the ballpark if your driving habits are fairly constant. My light comes on after about 6,500 miles give or take, so say every 65 miles is one percent of oil life used (not counting the fact that when you get to "zero" according to the monitor there is still is significant amount of life left in the oil because of the built-in safety factor).

You may be able to call OnStar from within the Vue and request a diagnostic report be sent.
I think they will do that for you on demand.
