I have a 2006 V6 AWD Vue and radio info, instrument cluster lights including odometer cut on and off intermittently. Radio continues to operate and headlights still work. Fuse info does not separate for just cluster, radio light, etc. Any ideas which fuse is the culprit?

Can you duplicate the behavior by jiggling the dimmer switch for the console lighting? Does it happen randomly (even when the car is still) or only when you hit a bump? This doesn't sound like a fuse at all.

Jiggled the dimmer and saw no change. Does not require a bump to knock out lights as they go on and off randomly on a short trip. If it is a fuse I may be missing something else I'm just not aware of at the moment.

Do you have the headlights on "auto"? If so, try putting the headlights in either the on or off position and see if the problem persists.

10-4, I will try it on my next trip. Local Saturn dealership states it is not a fuse but something in the wiring harness. Scheduled in for service tomorrow morning.

For what it is worth, this also sounds like an intermittant loose connection to me. Probably at the BCM.

I've seen this behavior before when the sensor that controls the automatic headlights breaks. The flashing lights on the dash/radio was actually the headlights going on and off randomly (which turns the instrument cluster/radio lighting on/off). A loose harness connector could also be the culprit but then I'd expect more systems to be affected than the cluster/radio lighting.

That's exactly what's happening and I called the service department today and told them to test the sensor since they can't reproduce it in the shop.
I'll let you know so all can be on the lookout for similar problems.
Thx Ritz.....
Diagnosis from this forum is better than the $2M crap they have in the garage!

Glad I could help. The fact that it only affected the instrument cluster and radio lighting was the giveaway.

My Vue had a similar issue. Turned out the wiring harness had a broken wire inside one of the insulation tubes. The wire would intermittantly break the connection. Drove the Saturn techs mental but they did get it. The harness was under the cover where the transmission shifter sits. I think it was a harness for the BCM. The wire looked fine but the copper inside was broken.
Covered under warranty....

Well they couldn't reproduce it in the garage so we have to wait for it all to go completely dark before they will fix it under warranty. Gotta be a loose wire in the harness. I will print this off and take it with me on my next visit.
Thx to all....

Steel-58,
The techs at Saturn found the broken wire with an ohmmeter, just testing the continuity of each wire in turn. The removed the harness and just checked each wire. Found it pretty quick with this method.
Hat's off to the Sattie techs!! Hope they can find your vechicles busted wire!!
