Hello all.
I am new to the Saturn Vue world and recently purchased a 2006 FWD V6. The truck has been amazing, but unfortunately my wife was involved in a confrontation with a telephone pole and damaged the drivers side rear door, rear quarter and rear hatch. Our insurance is through the roof right now, and we opted to fix this ourselves. Are the 2005 parts compatible? They do look almost identical, but we were just wondering if we could interchange these parts?
Thanks
Neil

FYI If you tell your insurance company that you had an accident, but never file a claim, they can still raise your rates. In other words, they can raise your rates regardless of filing a claim if you told them about the accident.
With Progressive any Comprehensive claim under $1,000 will not affect your rates. But any damage over that, or collision damage, that is reported to them can result in a rate increase even if they don't pay out a claim.

I agree with Spencer. Even if you fix it yourself and they later find out about the accident, they can still raise your rate. I'd submit the claim and cross your fingers. Even if they raise your rate, it probably wouldn't be enough to offset the cost of you paying for that kind of repair yourself...at least not for a while. That kind of repair could be a few grand, especially if there is any frame damage underneath that might not be visible to the casual observer.
Then run (don't walk) to AAA and ask about taking a defensive driving class. Some insurance companies will give you a discount for doing that. Some states will also remove points from your license.
Cheers,

Thank you for your concern guys. I work in the insurance industry and realize how the system works but in this case things are a little different. The accident was never reported, nor does anyone know anything even happened.
The frame is not damaged as the car has already been to my buddy's shop (licensed collision shop). We are just trying to figure out if we can use 2005 parts to fix the damage an keep the costs down.
My wife has a tendancy to run into things, and her insurance alone is over 600 a month as it stands. Here deductable is $1000 and this accident would put her in over 800 per month, and if you do the math you can see that fixing it myself is the most cost effective way to handle this.
So does anyone know if these parts are interchangable? Are the door frames and skins the same? Is the rear hatch the same? The all look the same, and I can't see Saturn doing frame changes just to change the model completely in 2008.
Thanks
Neil

All of the part that you mentioned cross from the 2005 to the 2006. I have a note that states that you will need 2 of the following plugs for the lift gate (p/n 04801866).

Thanks for the help. What are those plugs for?

Is the 05 different than the early years?
Wow, $600/month. She must be a very good cook! :D

The chrome trim on the liftgate is different for the 06s.
And if my wife's insurance was $600 a month, I'd buy her a nice bicycle (and a good helment)!
