Yellow oily fluid leak???

I have a 2003 Vue VTi AWD with 22,000 miles...lately I have noticed a spot of yellow oily fluid in my driveway coming from the passenger's side of the engine compartment near middle. It is not engine oil that is all I know for sure. It doesn't happen every day maybe 4 times a month...It is driving me crazy ...could it be comeing from the transfer case or transmission...I always thought transmission fluid was red but also heard that with VTi transmission the color could be another color....Any ideas would be appreciated:dizzy:

Yellowish fluid may actually be BRAKE FLUID. To tell, gather up a sample on a paper towel and compare its SMELL to the fluid in the brake master cylinder.

My first thought was the VTi fluid, since I believe that that is the color of the fluid that is now used in the VTi's, but passenger side is the wrong side to be seeing it unless it's coming from a leaky seal at the shaft. You should try to identify the source, but I think it's more likely to be brake fluid.
