My wife's Vue makes a noise like a bear growling when turning the steering wheel at slow speeds in placed like parking lots. The dealer has been able to make the noise go away for a while by lubricating something associated with the steering column. Anybody know what that something is?

The rubber boot that the intermediate shaft goes through at the firewall. The boot catches on the shaft due to lack of lube. The dealer sells a special grease that will fix it for you.

Yep, as bigc791 stated it's the boot at the floor. The service department has taken care of mine each time I've mentioned that it's noisey.

I have a strange creaking like noise in the steering, but only when I have a turn signal in use. Kind of weird..but I'm not going to take it in for just that...it's not worth taking off a half hour from work so I can drop it off and get a ride.

I have taken some white lithium grease to the boot about every 6 months, it stops the growling.
