Hi guys,

I'm going to change my oil tomorrow. I got under the car today to check out where the oil plug was.

Are there any grease fittings on a Saturn? I'm more familiar with Chevy trucks, so I was looking for grease fittings on the lower ball joints and tie rod ends.

Are there any points on the front end of a Saturn that need to be greased?

Thanks,

Mike

no, they're all sealed. Don't have to worry about none of that, although I have had to have a few replaced.

Hey all, this is a good topic, at least i think so. Im kinda torn between having and not having any grease fittings to grease. I had a 2003 chevy S-10 that had plenty of them to grease, I found them all easy and was able to grease them properly myself with my grease gun, it was actually fun, and made me feel more confident that it would allow for longer wear etc. etc. However I am no Mechanic or in anyway knowledgeable in certain automobile repairs. I find it nice and neat that there are no areas to grease or grease points on the vue etc, (as far as i know myself) however in an odd way i miss that. I almost think thats why so many parts have been replaced or wear out quickly on vues and we hear all these noises, because the rubber boots or whatever don't last long enough or allow dirt, etc in and breaks down that good greased up supposedly sealed no grease needed boot or whatever. I think i just love greasing and lubing everything that moves, or so i was told. Its equipment, its mechanical, it moves, it needs greased or oiled, and thus will last longer. I wonder how many 2002 vue owners are left out there, i know or think Ohiovueboy is one of the first ones to get a vue..... Like did anyone get one right off the assembly before they even were calling it vue, didn't they call them SUV??? Be well and have fun working on your vue. P.s. Upon chaning oil in the vue and ion the links, swaybars, etc the rubber boots actually are really dry and faded looking, and in my new 2006 ion there is rust around the top rim of the rubber boots that the control arms or tie rods attach too. sorry don't know the name of it.. Not sure what to do about it... bue05 :D

There are still plenty of us 2002 owners around - and there are a ton of them on the road. Just look for flat emblems, a gold exterior color, or a black silver exterior color, and you will have your 2002 (oh yea... and they are either all FWD4m or AWD6 models, except for a very short run of 2002 AWD4 VTi models)

I think if I had been able to lube some of these things, it would have kept them quieter. I have no doubt in my mind that my VUE would make it to 150K with relative ease at the rate it is going - small things might fall apart or need replacing, but it is a trooper.

Mine is in a batch of the first 7 delivered in Southwestern Ohio, I have been told. I do know mine was the 2nd FWD4m ever delivered by Saturn of Dayton North, however.
