Got a new one that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere.
With the engine (V6) running, I was walking around the left rear near the wheel well and heard what I thought was a lot of air leaking from the tire. Well, tire was good, but the sound was still there. So, where's the hissing sound coming from?:redjump:

My first thought is that it might be the exhaust that you're hearing since the tailpipe is at the left rear of the VUE. Then I remembered that the fuel tank straddles the axle shaft which requires it to have two fuel pumps..... one to pump fuel to the other side of the tank and the second to pump fuel to the engine. I'm not sure how much noise these two pumps make together so you might want to have your retailer take a listen..... hope this is helpful! :p
Gosh,
What would it cost to replace the pair if they die?
Couldn't the engineers do better than that?

Only one fuel pump is electric. The other pump is called a venturi type pump. The fuel returning from the fuel filter passes over the venturi pump and acts as a siphon to move the fuel. The venturi pump just pumps the fuel from one side of the tank to the other
Thanks.
Appreciate your explanation. Two electric pumps just sounded a little much for a car.
