I'm going to start changing the oil on my wifes 3.5L V6 FWD 04 Vue and would like to know if there is a drain plug gasket that needs to be changed out.

Also any prefs on what 5W20 to use? I'm lookng at either Havoline, Pennzoil or Motorcraft synth blend. Perhaps even Mobil 5000

Many thanks in advance

I use Penzoil. Its what my uncle recomended for me to use. As far as the gasket, I dont change any. I just by the filter and oile and swap it out...nothing additional.

Yes, there is a gasket. I just reuse it as long as it looks good. It will probably fall off into your oil pan so make sure to look for it.

Its $0.38 cents at my local honda dealer. Pick up a bunch and never have to worry about it again. They SAY you should change it every oil change, because it is supposedly a one time use crush washer.

I don't think I've ever changed a gasket whenever I've changed my oil.

As far as the 5w20..Havoline gets good reviews on www.bobistheoilguy.com..lots of moly in it for anti-wear.

make that 3 of us, LOL
the S Sat is oil change #26 :)

You can argue oils til the cows come home.

My take is if you lease or plan to sell by 100,000 miles, use the OLM and any dino that meets the specs, and Wal-Mart SuperTech is the cheapest.

If this will be a long term relationship, use a good syn and change @ 5000 miles.
