I have a problem I need to know if the alarm on a 2002 saturn vue has a backup on the alarm to remember the state it was in if battery power is removed! this is the deal I'm in the navy and im on deployment and my wife is trying to get my car and bring it up to pick me up and she only has the key and not the keypad to disable the alarm. So she unlocks the door and opens it the alarm goes off like normal and then she goes to start the car and the ignition disabling device was on..... I was going to tell her to take the neg. battery cable off the battery for about a min. and then replace it and try to start it. Yet I don't know if there is alarm memory or battery backup! PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP VIA EMAIL need to know in 2 days! Thank you in advance!

Welcome to the Board
From the owners manual.
Starting Your Saturn (If your transmitter is lost or damaged and the Saturn Security System is armed)
• Use your key to unlock and open the door. The alarm will start a pre-alarm horn chirp.
• Immediately place your key in the ignition and start the vehicle. This will cancel the alarm and disarm the Saturn Security System.
If you have not misplaced your transmitter, but it is not working properly, refer to synchronization section that follows. If your transmitter is still not working properly after you have gone through the synchronization procedure, follow the steps above and see your Saturn retailer for service.

Well thank you very much! My wifes 2001 Saturn SC2 does that also and I was sure that would happen with mine. Although the car has been sitting there for about 3 weeks. She told me that the alarm started going off and then she got in and turn the key to on everything lit up and then nothing happend when she put it to start. Well I didn't even think of the battery because the alarm went off the lights lit up and well I thought she would know if it was.... Obviously not, she emailed to say that she got a new battery because thats what one of my friends told her to do and it works great! I just want to say Thank you very much! I appriciate the quick reply and I'm definatly coming here for saturn everything!
Thank you!
