2004 Vue Hood Latch

My hood latch no longer operates. When you pull the hood lever, there is no resistance.

Does anyone know how to fix it? And by the way, what would cause the latch to stop working?

Most likely, it's the hood release cable. I don't know why they break but it's not unusual on the VUE & ION (more often in cold weather). Anyway, if you're not still under warranty, the part number is 22727899 with an MSRP of $12.98 ;)

Its an easy 20 minute repair once the hood is open!

I have not had the joy of getting a Vue hood open with a broken cable but perhaps there is someone on the forum that can help.

The hood release cables on the VUES can stretch making it hard to nearly impoosible to open the hood. check the cable at the release handle to see if it is still ok. If it is then pull the handle all the way to the open the hoodposition. Then push on the cable with your hand or something hard to see if the extra bit of movement opens the hood. If so then you need to get the cable replaced.

Seeing as you have a 2004 I would suspect that it is still under warrenty. If so the cable and replacement will be covered.
