I'm going to be replacing my steering wheel on my '03 I-4 VTi Vue, so that I can add cruise control. Any suggestions on what to look out for? I know about disconnecting the battery for a good 1/2 hour to prevent the air bag from firing. I assume I will need a steering wheel puller tool. Anything else?

Thanks!

Yeah, some vehicle specific directions (search the web) to be certain you know what you are doing while working around the air bag. I assume you will be going back with a cruise enabled wheel from an existing Saturn. As such you should not have any wiring isues.

After disconnecting the battery for thirty minutes you can disconnect the air bag at the yellow connector which is just above the knee high plastic panel under the dash.

You remove the airbag from the steering wheel by inserting a 1/4" flat blade screwdriver into the three tear shaped holes behind the air bag and twisting it 90 degrees to undo the three spring clips.

I have pulled three different Vue steering wheels and havnt had to get the puller out yet. After removing the nut a firm quick pull or two or three has been enough.

Thanks! That's great info. I'll take photos and post them when I'm done. Hobbes' directions on the wiring are great, but he didn't do the stock steering wheel.

Here's the photos of how I removed my steering wheel in order to add cruise control. They're here in my gallery:

We won't talk about the fried BCM. :hmm:
