hood latch

My hood latch connection at the floor board came loose so when I pull on the hood latch release it will not operate the hood latch. Not srue how to fix that or do I need to buy a new cable assembly ect. Right know i'm just pulling hard on the cable by hand.

Is the cable shredded of is the cable end complete with the stud? Maybe the cable could be reattached to the latch? You might have to bite the bullet and get a new assembly.
