too soft accelerator pedal

Anyone done this or have a suggestion for me on how I can increase the force needed to push down the accelerator pedal on my 06 Vue v6? The dealer says there is no way to do it.

I would so no since the vue is drive by wire. Im sure there is an internal spring in that box on the fire wall but I bet it is real expensive if you break it.

There must be some way to hook up a spring between the pedal and something under the dash. You'd have to do a little cobbling, but I'm sure it's possible.
