Has anyone changed their own transmission fluid on a 2.2L ecotech engine? Is there a dipstick or a drain plug somewhere? Thanks for any help that you can provide.

Is it VTI or a regular auto. The regular auto is fairly easy drop the pan, reinstall fill from the top (there is a big red screw cap) about 7 qts. go through the gears leaving it in each one for about 5s put it in park. Now the tricky part no dipstick, there is an 11mm near where the pass axle goes into the tranny remove the plug while the engine is running and let the excess drain out or add until fluid comes out (like a diff or older manual tranny). If its a VTI take it to the dealer no service shops the dealer only it uses special fluid, additive and a unique fill precedure in which you need to know tranny temp among other factors. The 5 sp. manuels have a drain and fill plug if i remember correctly.

If its 2004, then it is a VTi if it is automatic. On the Getrag 5-speed, there is a drain bolt, and a fill cap on the top of the transmission. I do not believe there is a dipstick on the 5-speed.

I know NOTHING about the VTi.

The 2.2L ecotech is a VTI. The Vue that we have is front wheel drive.
