Well I woke up to the horn on my wife's 2002 VUE blasting from the driveway. We put it in the garage with the door down while I tried to decide what to do. As a rule I wouldn't mess with this car as I have experience only with older cars ( pre 1974). Was about to smash something or cut the battery cable when my dear wife suggested removing the fuse. That did it. Cleverly I swapped the foglite relay( no foglites) with horn relay. Horn still blasts away. Does anyone know if the horn it'self could be defective? The switch in the steering wheel is inaccessable unless someone out there knows how to get in without blowing my head off with the airbag. Please don't say go to dealer. Lastime was expensive! Thanks

It is most likely the horn switch which is part of the airbag module (the horn switch copper plates become deformed from use). Parts are not available seperately so your options are to relocate the horn switch or replace the airbag module.

I picked up a spare defective horn switch airbag on Ebay dirt cheap and added push button switches from radio shack (the air bag part was fine). After trying it out for a month I decided not to put my original unit back in (it was too hard to find the horn switch when I needed it in a hurry)

There is a picture in my gallery of my new design.

My 2003 FWD V6 Vue also had the horn stuck on think happen. The horn started to blast in the evening while my wife and I were watching TV. It was so LOUD in the garage that I had to get earplugs and then was in the process of disconnecting the battery when there was a bad "burnt electronics" smell and dreaded smoke! Covered under warranty. Man the Vue has a LOUD horn, especially inside the garage with the door closed!!

Thanks for the link! One of the replies gave me an idea for replacing my horn switch. Thanks again.
