Has anyone had a back fire after installing the KN cold air intake? Not sure if I am going to keep mine on, feels like it is dogging out of the light and (not running it hard) when it shifted today I herd quite a loud backfire in the intake, not out the exhaust. I dont have any check engine light and engine seem to idle fine. Question... with the addition of the intake should I up injectors or up grade some other sensor? Have I gone to far with the intake and the cat back exhaust? I do run my VUE hard, not abuse it, but like to have fun with it. Maybe got some bad gas, only did it once but little worried I may be damaging my VUE.
It is a 2005 3.5L 14K miles on it....I afraid if I get some major engine failure they may not fix it b/c all the crap I have put on it. I do have all the service done on it at the dealer and change oil every 3k, I dont wait for the light.
Any suggestions (esp from a Saturn Tec) would be great!!!!!!

How long have you had the intake on?
Did you disconnect the battery to reset the computer?

Yeah I did that...I reset the computer before I started it up after putting on the intake. One thing I let it run but may have had the a/c on, so tomorrow I am goingt o reset it again, keep all accessories off and idle for at least five minutes. Hope this helps, improve my low end, I just dont think the intake and the exhaust are a good idea, im afraid I am making it slower...no low end really....but wow does it sound nice :} I am going to run it at the fun night at a local track, they have a SUV class so the time will tell me how it truley runs, if it is slower than stock...it is obivious...it all comes off......
Um...watch ebay for a good deal on a exhaust system and intake for a 3.5 vue LoL.

Have any of you guys done an oil analysis after installing a KN air filter? I've read some poor oil analysis and have pulled my KN and replaced it with the standard paper FRAM.

I have never done one...should I? Does the dealer do them? I just thought if I change every 3k and dont run it "too" hard oil should be a big issue. Please correct me if I am wrong...

I sent an oil analysis to blackstone on monday! I'll be sure to post the report ASAP. I have the K&N 77 series on my vue. If the silicon is a tad high, I'll buy one of their filter pre-cleaners.

So if you clean the filter it should be good to go, courious, I know nothing about this...I will be looking for the outcome!

I got my analysis...
silicon was at 15ppm. The "averages" was 10ppm. Don't know if this is due to engine breakin or because of the k&n, but it could just be normal anyways. I mean 5ppm is nothing.

OK cool, I am just going to leave mine alone then. Maybe I will ask the dealer to do one on my next oil change. Thanks!!!!
