View Full Version : Vibration when accelerating

My 2003 VUE has a bad front end vibration only when accelerating and continues to vibrate only when there is force (gas pedal pressed). When you take your foot off of the gas pedal, the vibration stops. That would lead me to believe that it definitley isn't tires out of balance. Can anyone assist as to what this might be? I am going to take this to the dealer and hopefully they will fix the problem. I have been reading the posts, but couldn't find anything that it might be. There are discussions about the transmission, but I have no problems, that I know of with it. The transmission was just flushed for routine maintenance. I have no other problems with this vehicle.
Thanks,
Bob

It's sounds like you have a bad or bent drive shaft, Or a wheel bearing.
It also could be a worn CV joint or simply just an out of round tire.
Take it to your local mechanic to do a diagnostic check.

OK, I can grasp all of the ideas, except for the out of round tire. Wouldn't the vibration still be there regardless?

Check out some of my posts on my 2003 with the vibration. It to also only happened when the engine was under load. Very frustrating situation. That's why I'm now driving an 05. Is yours by chance an AWD w/VTI?

I just got my 2003 Vue 4cyl AWD returned from Service today and the whole thumping and vibration problem was due to bad Wheel Bearings...arghh...
Thanks

How many miles do you have on your 2003 Vue? Mine is at 56800 and I'm noticing the same effect. I took it right back to the dealer after they performed a complete VTI changeout (Internals Only) no case... I had just bought new goodyear tires 4 weeks before the transmission repair and they were balanced then so I thought I could eliminate the tires being out of balance. However, they told me they rebalanced my tires and that it was ready for pickup. I drove it on the freeway and the shudder and vibration was no there at 60 to 75 mph as it was before. I was suprised that the rebalance fixed this problem as it only was noticeable when i accelerated hard starting at 60 mph. Thats when the shudder and vibration were occuring... I'm gonna take it for a short roadtrip this weekend and check it out further...
