New Message Board Opened!

Welcome to the all-new SaturnFans Forums! This message board marks the completion of the second phase of an upgrade plan I started back in June. In this phase I migrated the previous UltraBoard to a newer, faster, and more robust vBulletin platform (using PHP and MySQL). I encourage everyone to explore the board and try out all the new features. Some of them include:


Advanced user control panel that let’s you decide what you see when you browse the forums
Enhanced private messaging system with inbox, customizable folders, and message tracking utility
Instant message notification when a new PM is sent to you
Ability to subscribe to forums and threads
Personal signature
Events calendar
Six member levels with stars
Personal avatars – limited to Jr. level members and above
Create Polls – limited to Jr. level members and above
Happy birthday greetings – update your user profile
And much more!

I hope you like the new forums. Please let me know what you think. I’d like to thank everyone for their feedback over the years; I try hard to implement as many user suggestions as possible. Keep them coming!

At first glance the new message boards seem much enhanced. It will take me a while to learn all the new capabilities. The only thing I miss is the red devil emoticon. Overall a nice improvement:)

Do you have the time zone information set up okay? I am in the Eastern US time zone and the timestamps appear to be off a couple of hours.

I'm glad everyone seems to like the new boards. Logging in to the new system can be a little confusing, because its a little different from the old board. Thanks for your patience while everything gets worked out.

Yeah, this board is a big improvement over the old board. There are a lot more customizable options, both from a user and administrator perspective. I'll be adding the devil smilie and question mark to the choices of message icons. I forgot to upload them last night.

I'm still figuring out how to set all of the features on the board; I'll go back and see what I can do to change the time. However, right now the board is set to GMT and members have to set their local time zone in their control panel. Let me know if that hels.

My fault; I set the time zone field as you pointed out that did the trick. I overlooked that when I was checking and updating my data. Thanks!

Charlie, great work on the new message board! I love all of the new features. It has so many options, but is still fast and easy to use! Thanks so much for putting all of this time and effort into SaturnFans!

P.S. - I love the avitars (or whatever the little pictures we can add are called.)

GREAT board Charlie! I like the new user control panel...gives users a lot more flexibility and control over the board and their account. I love the functionality, especially when posting new threads and replies. This new board is a powerhouse! Keep up the great work man!:cool:

Dittos on you new board, Charlie. I had some difficulty logging on, but you cleared that up easily and with dispatch.

I particularly like the click-on for "subjects discussed since last visit" (or whatever it's called).

I'm looking at the Smilies rolling their eyes and grimacing even as we speak. I'm not really a smiley kind of guy, so probably won't use them, but they seem to be a very popular feature and certainly are amusing.
