I opened my weekly car magazine Auto Express today to see some large photographs of the Saturn Aura....The Very same photographs that Charlie posted a few days ago.... Except something wasn't quite "right"....

The Aura photos had been photoshopped and were wearing Vauxhall badges and Vauxhall's corporate "V" grille...... Then there was the headline: "New Vectra comes into orbit" A pun on Saturn!

Yep, the Saturn Aura is coming to the UK, but it will be wearing Vauxhall Vectra badges. In other words, the Aura is NOT a rebadged Vectra....The Vectra will be a rebadged Aura!

"Our main picture sensational new look of Vauxhall's family favourite, although the influence of other Vauxhalls is clear. With sharp styling, a high waistline and a dramatic presence on the road, this is the car to answer much of the criticism of the current model.

It's based on the Saturn Aura, which debuted at this week's Detroit Motor Show. Insiders say that in all respects the new Vectra will be little different to this production-ready showstopper"

Word on engines for the Vectra so far are that the line-up will include a 2.2 litre gasoline 4-cylinder, a 2.8 litre gasoline Turbo V6 with 220 or 250hp outputs, and a 1.9 litre turbo diesel 4-cyl, amongst others.....

I have very mixed feelings about all this. On one hand, this nice-looking new Saturn model is coming to the UK, which I am VERY excited about.... But the unfortunate flip side is that it will be wearing Vauxhall badges when it gets here.

I'm also very much mourning the fact that while most of the Saturns up till now have been all-American products, the future generation seems to be going to share A LOT with Vauxhall. In which case, OK, the Aura is still a VERY nice car, but I won't have any desire to own one.

I hope Saturn gets to keep the Sky roadster to itself!!!

At least the Euro version has a choice of engines, and I would be pretty sure a manual would be standard.

As far as the SKY goes, its better looking (IMHO) twin is the Pontiac Solstice.

Considering the British buy more roadsters than any other nation I can almost guarantee that the Sky will show up as a Vauxhall.
I wish we could get diesel Auras.

The present Vectra is an ugly beast, and almost anything would represent an improvement. At some stage it was also available with the VTi transmission, but whether or not that is still the case, in light of GM's experience in the US is another matter.
It will be interesting to see what replaces the Ion in 2007, and how that relates to European GM product.

We'll have to wait and see, but the Sky is basically the same as the Vauxhall VX Lightning concept car, and the last I heard was that Vauxhall wasn't getting the VX Lightning - Saturn is getting it instead!

Shadow_tek001, if the Sky turns up in the UK it will almost certainly be as a Vauxhall - we have the Vauxhall brand in the UK instead of Opel.

In a perfect world it would come to the UK as a SATURN! :D

Or Vauxhaul VX240 if they name it according to the engine.
