When did you first visit Saturnalia/SaturnFans.com? Was it before or after you owned your first Saturn?

After.
I had already purchased my third. If I would have read about all the L-series problems here, I probably woldn't have purchased mine.
I first visited just over 3 years after I got my first Saturn, a 92 SL1.

It was a few years after my SL1 purchase, but before my Ion purchase. I was surfing the internet about Saturn information in general. The search yielded a few links to the threads here. I am glad I clicked on them....:)

I found it after while doing a search on Yahoo! for Saturn L series and Problems. I can not remember exactly what the criteria was.

After purchasing the wife's AWD V6, and looking for accessories for it, I found SaturnFans.
Despite the beating the ION was getting, I LOVED the look of the QC3 and bought it anyway.
We've been glad since :D

The 486DX was still a good computer when I got my first Saturn... and the Internet was almost unknown, Bill Gates was still just a millionaire and the Corvette only cost 31k new.

After purchasing my SL2. It was completely by accident that I happened upon the Saturnfans website and I'm glad I did.

I actually have another username on here where I think the only post I made was where I said I'm looking for a first gen SC2. Then I promptly forgot the password and never posted again until many many months later.
I stumbled across this site after I saw what became my dream car - a dark purple 96 SC2 - sitting in front of my brother's apartment when I was 14. I spent a long time looking around the streets and on the web for pictures that looked like this car. I had NO clue it was a Saturn, the only part I remembered was the "Twin Cam" on the tail light. Finally, I found out it was a Saturn, and started my search. Came across pictures of Eric 96SC2's 92 SC2 and figured out what model of a Saturn it was. And actually, I think it was a link on his webpage that brought me here, about two years before I had my driver's license. It progressed into an obsession.
On August 23, 2001, I got my first Saturn, a 94 SL1, which was my car through high school. Just a few days after I bought it, I became a member here again, and have been the infamous Spazie ever since.
You have all now heard my endearing and heart warming tale of the obsession with purple SC2s. And four years after I first saw one, I bought my dream car, and now she is my baby, the Katmobile. :D

I found this site before. I did a lot of research before I bought my ION.

I think I came across this site shortly after I bought my SC2. If this was indeed the site I visited, I lurked around in here researching oil consumption problems on the S-series, and then realized I did not have a problem with my car.
Several months later I was looking at web pages of people that have made performance mods to their SC2s. A link on Lane's Saturn Car Audio & Performance Page (http://www57.pair.com/lane/) brought me to this site 11 months after purchasing my Saturn, and shortly after, I became a member.
I seem to remember reading information posted by wolfman before becoming a member, which was undoubtably during my oil consumption research. Before becoming a member here I also inquired about removing the interior door handles on my car on allexperts.com. I don't remember for sure who replied to my question, but I seem to think it was a volunteer with the screen name "Wolfman." My God! He's everywhere!

And the nose-picking guy in your avatar was still guv'ner of a banana "republic" (or was he still just the owner of a mediocre team of a sport about which he probably knew just about nothing?).
Oh, after, in my case. Just a week or so ago. Catching up on some, er, deferred maintenance (engine, coolant, muffler, rear wiper, etc), and googling for advice/info, this joint popped up.

I found it after my '97 SC2 was a few years old googling 'Saturn Performance'!
Was there even an internet in 1997?

Before.
I found this site in late 2002/early 2003. I didn't "join" at the time, as I was just reading the occasional articles that popped up every now and then. I didn't get involved until January 2004 when I had my sights set on a new car by the end of the year. It also helped my researching and whatnot.
When I started the process of getting my 2005 L300, my sales lady, assuming I was just an "average car browser," was blown away at all the stuff I knew about Saturn and all the models, because of reading everything at Saturnalia. She wanted to keep me in her back pocket. :D

For me it was after. Like several of you guys/gals I was looking for things to do to my 95SC2. Found serveral Saturn sites. Joined a few. I rarely if ever hit the other sites. The population there just isn't as civil and helpful.

Classic stuff piney...when I got my first Saturn, the Pentium III 600 MHz was a good buy (after rebates for a 3 yr internet service contract with a company called Compuserve), I was considering buying a 1.3 MP digital camera for $400+, and Al Gore was running against one of those Bush sons for the presidency...
I found Saturnalia when I was looking for some accesories to my newly bought 2000 SL1, but I didn't find the forum section and it's great host of members until early 2003 when I was looking for info about Saturn's new Ion.

I remember stumbling on the home page and thought to myself this site is crap! It was because most of the front page links weren't working.
I was looking to get out of my Olds Cutlass Calais, and I was looking at my uncle's 1994 SL2 5spd. I thought I would never get a Saturn because the engine was so small. "1.9L 4 cylinder"! I remember thinking to myself! I wanted V-6. Then gas prices skyrocketed and even the 26 mpg I had with the 2.5L 4 cylinder engine in the Olds was getting expensive.
It wasn't until 2 years later that I bought my uncle's Saturn for $1500 and I was set. A few months later I came by here again and registered for an account. I think I was having some minor squeaking noises and it ended up needing the belt and tensioner replaced. I knew, because of this site, how much to expect to pay at the dealer.

As someone else pointed out in the L forum - the people who came here before buying are very unlikely to be L owners. Our forum is known for complaints :(

after The Saturn was a "gift" from my niece. Promised I'd take good care of it, so i came here to see what I was up against. It's a nice little 97sc2/5sp. Everything here has been helpful, especially the side marker blinkiing mod.
