I just recently (yesterday) bought some tubular headers off a 92 SL1 for $50. I just read in an old post that the 4-2-1 headers only came on early DOHC models. Where they confused or did I buy the wrong ones? The ones I have ARE tubular and look great compared to my 96 manifold so I'm happy either way. Also, will these bolt on, or am I going to have to coax them on with a torch?

Just saw some pics of the 4-2-1 headers. Sure enough, I have the wrong ones. Oh well, as I said they look good (I polished them and painted them flat black with some header paint). I guess I'll hit the junkyards next weekend to try to find an old DOHC this time.

Well, I just found out my 92 SL1 header doesn't fit my 96 SL2. (and it looked so good too!) Does anyone know what models a 92 SL1 header WILL fit?
(BTW, if you have one of these models and do not have tubular headers off an earlier model then I will sell you mine for cheap)(it's already polished and painted black with header paint, the paint has also been heat treated and allowed to cure for two hours at 300 degrees F for maximum heat resistance)(up to 1200 F)

The SL1 exhaust manifold will fit the SOHC but not the DOHC motors. If you are looking for a 92 header you have to get it off of a DOHC. I have one in my 97 sc2 and love it. If you can't find one near you, talk to Joey from saturn used parts and he'll give you a discount and I think it comes out to $150 for the header and downpipe (sales@saturnusedparts.com)

Here's what my engine looks like with it on

Patrick,

Couldn't you afford some wire separators, man? <img src="http://64.77.2.166/cgi-bin/UltraBoard/Images/Wilk.gif" border="0" align="middle">

Check how it should look - The SPS Powerstack has been shortened so the end of our filter is not up against the fuse box.

P.S. It's all in good fun. I think we need to add a brace to ours...

At least you got a good price on the Header itself. The exaust ports are different shape than a DOHC.
