I don't think no one has. What kind of tires do you have?

I know what you mean. I've been wanting to disable the speed governor on my L for quite a while. I believe that the only way you can disable the governor is to find a source for an alternative PCM. The speed limiting governor is actually in the engine management software. It is difficult, although I don't believe impossible to disable.

If you drive an L-Series, I believe that the european Opel Vectra may use the same PCM as the Saturn minus the speed clipping code.

just want to make sure your tires could handle all that speed if and when someone can clip the code thats all

Do the early saturns have speed governors, like for instance 94 SL1?

Ceck out the Electromotive "TEC2" i have heard that it might be a good alternative for the stock PCM

The L series can be reprogrammed to remove the Speed limiter. Unlike the S series the L's PCM is open and can be modified by knowledgable tuners, as I understand it. Regal is already pissing around with stuff in Europe on the PCM's and if it's the same unit, which is has to be, then it's only a matter of time. Contact a place like JET, or SuperChips and offer to send in your PCM for evaluation. I speculate that you can't drive your car while they are screwing with it, but hey being able to drive over 120 MPH on a public road and exceeding the limit set by law by over 2 times has to be worth it.

no, you can't disable it. the best you could do is to have the limiter bumped upto 124mph by setting the code from an sc/sc2/early sl2 into your non-sc/sc2/early sl2. make sure you get some h-rated tires first. only the sc/sc2 and sl2's that came with firehawk gta (h-rated) tires got the 124mph limiter from the factory.

Has anyone tried buying a Power Programmer? I saw one in a magazine for about $380.00 (Power Programmer III) and from what I understand it can change the speed limiter, correct speedometer error, change shift points, change shift firmness, and some other crap. I think it plugs into the port under your steering column used to read engine problem codes. It is supposedly compatible with all domestic vehicles, but I've never bought one. I'm trying to get a couple of friends together with domestics to all chip in currently.

Unfortunatley there is no power programmer for the Saturn computer. I wish there were one, I would have bought it 2 years ago.

Isn't this a mute point because even if you could disable the speed governor I can't imagine that you would be able to go must faster given the amount of drag on the car at that speed to begin with.

I used a program "CarTest" that estimates the S series Saturn's top speed is around 130 to 135 mph.

Last year when i decided to take the the coupe out on a Banzai run (don't ask don't falme) it had no trouble at all hitting 125 on level ground. I have no doubt that without it's limiter it could do 135.
