I've been looking at a new intake system for awhile at different places(SPS, ebay, Saturnfans Classifieds, Dealer, etc.) and I think I have it narrowed down to the Powerstack or Iceman. I haven't bought one yey because I have been looking for a deal. I can get a Powerstack from my dealer for a little less than SPS but someone here said there are Iceman intakes for 125 on JC Whitney. The problem is, they're only on sale until Mar 31 so I need to know which to get. Which one is better? Post as much as possible. Tell me your expierences with both. Any info will be appreciated, Thanks.

I have an Iceman in my car and i love it. you can get it in any color and it does not transfer as much heat as the aluminum powerstacks. I say get the Iceman especially if you can get it at a good price.

The iceman and HotShot intakes are about the same performance wise. Dont get drawn into the hype that metal intakes create or trap more heat. The air going through the intake is going WAY too fast for it to heat up in the piping.

I dont know about the iceman i have the powerstack and love it..it makes one hell of a growl at 6000 rpms. And the chrome looks good under the hood. Also with the powerstack you need a bracket iceman you don't.

Actually, even with the ICEman yuo need a bracket.. the good thing is that it comes with it.

I've been looking around at different intakes as well, and iceman or hotshot seem to be the way to go, BUT, how are the K&N Injection performance kits match up to these? JC whitney has a genII for $96 through april.

I would think the performance would be better on the hotshot b/c the filter is different than the k and n. the filter on the hotshot is open end and this supposdely adds 2 more horsepower thant the k and n filters

Actually, the filters on the HotShots are from K&N. K&N also makes cone filters with the openings in the front.

So Ractive filters are K & N?

Hello Madson26, have you looked at the weapon R intake systems. I have the Dragon filter and well, it speaks for itself. It is very much an eye catcher and the growl that will come from you car not only on start up and turn off, but when you accelerate. Check their website if you haven't already

ok, now I'm a little more confused than when I started. Now I have 4 choices of intakes. This is going to be harder than I thought. What about the K&N? The dragon does look cool too, but I haven't heard much about it. People seem to be happy with Iceman and SPS.

ok. i have had both the original Hotshot full stack powerstack and the Iceman cool air system on my old 92 sc. the Hotshot is metal and shiny and heavier and you need to get a bracket to hold it up off of the upper radiator hose becuase it will evently slide down on it. the Iceman is composite (plastic) and comes in various colors and includes a bracket to hold it in place and it weighs less. the Hotshot is one big tube with a K&N cone on the end. the Iceman is two tubes connected together with a K&N cone on the end. with the Iceman you can adjust it somewhat and swivel the cone down more away from the hood. the newer Hotshots come with a hole for the intake air temp sensor to go into. the Iceman will need to have a hole drilled into it to mount the intake air temp sensor. both the Iceman and Hotshot make cool wooshing sucking noises while the engine is running. i'd suggest you decide which one you like better based on what color you want and if you want metal or plastic. i personally like the iceman more and got a black one that matches the factory black hoses and plastic bits under the hood. the iceman is on my 96 sc2 now. i sold my hotshot a while ago. in theory the iceman would be better since it remains cooler to touch, being made of plastic instead of metal. however i haven't done back to back dyno testing of both.

Lets see. First off I have heard nothing but good things about SPS. The thing that gets me is everyone has them and the price.
Second the K&N air filter is a awesome filter. It is a basic design filter. They will last forever if you keep em clean and oiled and the are very very cheap.
Has for the Weapon R. I am not really to sure of the intake systems but I do know mine is a plastic with a chrome finish on it. Which keeps the cool air cool, not hot. The filter I like the design of the filter and how the made it look. They had on every dyno test that it increased horse power up to 10 horsepower. I wanna see about getting a mic to put by the filter, so you could hear the way this thing sucks the air in. It is so awesome. When I decelerate it sounds as if I have turbo under the hood.
Has for the Iceman I haven't really heard anything with that either besides on here.
When I shopped around I wanted something alittle different, so when I pop the hood people either didn't know what kind it was or they would be like "wow, never seen that kind before". I was over in Spring break last weekend in Daytona Beach, Fl. I had atleast 5 people Saturday night compliment me on the intake.
Shop around and get what you want. I had put a link on my recent post to Weapon R's site. I do have other sites if you would like them. Good luck and I hope you get what you want and alittle more.

SPS told me that the new iceman air filters already have a hole for the air sensor and that I wouldn't have to drill one.

Get the Weapon R!! That things pimp. They also sell a ram air kit that attaches on top of it for a possible upgrade.

OR, you could wait until the new SPS intake system comes out! (which is what I am doing) Although last time I checked they are still in the design phase, but I know that any intake system that is custom-made just for Saturns has to be better than the Weapon-R (which, judging by their website, is aimed more towards the import crowd).

Regarding the K&N fuel injection performance kit. I have one on my car. It's not a bad setup but it uses the factory (ugly) air tube that goes to the throttle body. All it does is replace the stock airbox with a chrome K&N cone filter. If I had it to do again (and I will) I would get the Iceman. I must admit though, that Weapon R setup looks pretty cool.

Madson -
Send me an e-mail if you want to see some pics of the homegrown version of the Powerstack intake system I put on my SW2. I used a BIG Uni dual-stage foam filter, small K&N crankcase breather filter, some aluminum flexible ducting, a PVC elbow, and some zip ties. Total cost for all the parts was less than $50, and it works! Nice growl, pulls harder from mid-range to redline, and works even better with the Magna Flow muffler and 2" exhaust piping I had installed.

Let's see Kerry everything made for a car is custom made I would recomand the Weapon R air filter to anyone and everyone I speak with. Having a company who makes import accessories for either engines or body modifications is awesome and with them willing to help with the domestic part is better. This here is truley like a battle of Imports and Domestic cars. Guy would you grow up and mature before you give Saturn a bad name. I can't even believe someone sold you one. I would put a Weapon R up against a SPS intake any day. Not to prove that I am right, just to put you in your place. You are like the KKK for Saturn, Dude you are sick.
