What I can not even begin to understand is how they have all the mods for the DOHC engines, even clear lense available for 97+ saturns. But yet nothing for us SOH cammers!!! I am rather upset by this. If I wanted to do anything to my car it would either be the engine swap or just buy a DOHC. But there are a few parts. I mean the intake from Monkey Racing is cool but how come other aftermarketers wont join in. Yes we have plenty of facial exterior and interior mods, but nothing performance wise. Its another cam on the same engine??? I would just like to put this up to SPS, and all those other aftermarket dealers that us SOHC's wont go silent!!! I see more SL1's than SL2's that kids own, not many have the DOHC. Which makes me fell like I am not in the fabled saturn cult, but in the pre 1995 SOHC cult. Once I get my intake it should make a noticeable difference. But I just want everyone to know that I have no intention on buying another car before I graduate, I cant afford it. But I would like to do the mods and maybe add some stuff ot my engine. I notice everyone on here is all about DOHC's and SC's. But us sedan owners are also part of this venture. I wish I had a coupe with the DOHC I really do. But all of the stuff for DOHC engines can be found all over the net not just at SPS (see the aftermarket vendor list). Which irks me to see all of these places that just cannot come out with anything for the SOHC from 91-94 which is to me a big majority of saturn owners in the area. I am rambling I know this and most of you will read and probably shrug it off. But all the posts for SOHC are small and little responses cause not many people know much about mods for them, Chris97SC2 has been my greatest source along with Saturn Used Parts. But you DOH cammers can find everything for your engines and yet I am stuck here with nothing but regular 4 banger that I would like to show off but cant becuase aftermarketers dont wanna put any effort into new technologies or ideas for us. ARGH

I feel you dawg,

I got the 94SC1 and about to explode waiting for my monkey racing intake to show up. This is worse then Christmas. Hang in there, just know that when you do get your SOC modded, it'll be unique. Next time around when we have the $$, we'll know what to look for in our next car.

I have a 98SL1 which I have been working on for about 2 years. It has been slow and steady as to parts becoming available for the SL1, and from what I understand it is even worse for the earlier model years. I am in the same situation as you, I can't afford to get another car till after graduation, so I have just been making due with what I have and making it unique. That would be my best advice to you for now, just make the car your own, and unique. Eventually I hope we will see more aftermarket dealers offer more parts for the SOHC, but until then we have to make due.

I feel your pain too. I have a 2001 SL1, there are a few engine mods for it though. Injen makes a cold air intake, and I can get a custom exhaust made from anywhere. The only thing I don't think I could get (at this time) is an exhaust header. Many of the hardcore engine options that SPS has (port/polished/shaved head, extrude honed intake manifold, bored throttle body) can all be done at a local machine shop. So don't get so down on yourself...there's stuff out there, it just takes time to find it.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. There aren't many parts for Saturns period. The only thing SOHC didn't have before was an intake..but that has changed. You can still get an exhaust. Still get an FPR. Still get wires. Still get a ported/polished head. You can do just as much.. you jut might not benefit as much. This is what I want to see: Someone with an SOHC putting a TURBO on it with the correct fuel and timing management. The SOHC should handle boost better because it has a lower compression ratio. I'm sure it could stand 5-6 psi with just added fuel like an EIC with 2 370+cc injectors and maybe even 7psi with the EIC AND the MSD Dis-2 setup. That will be one quick saturn.

That is true Rob, and I do plan on makin my Saturn unique, with my system, which is underconstruction, rims, and tints, spoiler, and my fogs, and umm white gauges and a short shifter with my intake. I also plan on puttin a muffler on with dual tips for a sportier look, any ideas?

Another great site for overall saturn performance parts is CWC Motorsports.

They have about the same amout of stuff as SPS, but they also have some other stuff
that SPS doesn't offer.

This is thier website http://www.cwcmotorsports.com/saturn.html

This threat has caught my interest. I am an owner of a 1998 SC1 and I agree that there are but a few performance parts that are available for the SOHCs. So then, make your own. What kind of parts are you asking for exactly? Headers? Intakes? Exhaust? Pulleys? All those are available for SOHCs. For 95+ SOHCs many parts are interchangeable from the DOHCs. Don't think that SOHCs are more limited in the performance accessories than DOHCs, they are only just about the same. If it is not available and you want one for yourself, then get one custom built. There are doers and complainers. If you want something bad enough, you'll finds ways to get it. For three years, I have wanted to have a custom built cylinder head for my SOHC, now I have one. It's all built to my specs and it pulls harder from 3000 and above.

Well I think what set me off was how they didnt make Intakes for pre 95 SOHC's Why you may ask??

Well it turns out (thanks to info from Jim and Monkey Racing) That some early GM's had a very peculiar cut piping that was underneath the stock airboxes. So these aftermarketers instead of being creative and making a pipe end that fit, just decided to be lazy and make only the straight circles. I have heard everything for excuses, even one about the fact that Multi port fule injection (95+ SOHC) were ok for intakes but the pre's had just Electronic fuel injection. Which made no sense to me and actually scared me to thinkin that if I put somethin on the engine it was gonna blow it up or somethin.
