Ok, can anyone help me out here. It seems that everyone I talk to does not make an air intake like those K&N things for a 92 SOHC SL1. Why not? I asked saturn performance he gave me some #### about EFI v. multi port injection. But what is the big deal. Does anyone know of anywhere I could find one or get one cause this is really botherin me. Plus the clears, come out in March-April for about 300 bucks.

Hey Chris,
I tried looking all over the net and I cannot find MPH racings home site where they would sell the air intake. That is my engine exactly and I have the pic for proof now, thanks. I just need to find out where that website is or how I can contact that kid to find out where he got his. Any ideas???

That doesn't look like a production piece. It looks more like something someone pieced together. I've seen Honda intakes made like that. They simply used a 180 degree mandrel bent 3" stainless steel exhaust pipe cut to make two 90's. Arrange and cut the pieces so that it'll fit in the engine bay. Weld the pieces together. Apply ceramic coating. Voila, custom intake!
I drew a diagram of how I wanted my intake and planned on dropping it off at the local mandrel bender, but never did. It would've been a clean looking seamless tube. I did get one made for my other car though. It was only $30. I will send it off to performance coatings to get coated with ceramachrome.

Yeah,
But what is the difference if you have one made or if you buy it from an aftermarketer. I mean are there really issues I could have putting that on my engine stock with nothing else done to it. I hope not cause I just want a lil boost nothing special, just a bit. Also, the guy at SPS told me somethin about my EFI 1.9L compared to the newe SOHC that has multi-port injection. I had no clue what he was talkin about in the sense that why would it matter, just make one. I dont wanna damage my engine by doin this, sure it's safe?

Don't worry about damaging your engine. This has been done several times with no ill affects. The guy who makes those intakes (Jim) spent alot of time getting it just right for his car and when he got it right he made a few for guys who have the pre '94 SOHC engines.
Happy motoring,
Abe.
