Hi,
I'm looking for a performance chip for my 95 SL2. Does anyone know who manufactures one?

No one does and Saturn's don't have a removable EEPROM either. The only solution is to hack the System, which has yet to be done successfully. This is part of the reason for not having a Retail Turbo or S/C kit for Saturn, because there is no way to externally control the Timing or Fuel with out the use of a 3rd party PCM/Piggy back computer.

i have the jet performance 2000 catalog and it lists saturn all models in it for the computer upgrades did they just make a mistake??? or can they really do it..it says "import, neon, and saturn vehicles do not have camputer chips that are easily remaoved ...therefore it is necessary for JET engineers to either reprogram the existing chip or remove andn replace it by desoldering it from the circuit board" granted if they can do it you can't drive your car for a couple of days..but then again maybe they just made a typo?!

Please see my previous post!
JET is selling Snake Oil. That PCM from JET has been Dyno tested to make ZERO performance gains.

I have a chip in my 97 Saturn SC2 and my car is freakin faaaast! It is called a Venom 400 Performance Control Module. It adds 25% more horsepower in the 1000 to 5000 RPM range. It also has an on and off switch. The hard part is getting someone to install it . You can get it at summitracing.com or order by phone at 1-800-962-9094 free shipping! Also be sure to ask for a free sport compact car catalog. You can also check out the venom-performance.com website to see all of there products. If you need more info about it e-mail me. scottells@yahoo.com it works great.

Is this the product which just increases the fuel injection? For example, as one increases throttle(by means of the gas peddle) the chip simply increases that amount by a certain percentage. If this is true, would it not be true that one could do the same as this chip simply by increasing throttle, by means of the gas peddle?

The Venom 400 debate rages on!
The Venom 400 does what it's supposed to, but has no measurable benefits on Saturn’s. It's been Dyno tested to make ZERO performance increase and Venom was supposed to pull it from the market as of my last conversation with them. If you have purchased one, return it or if you are planning on buying one don't! Not to mention the fact that it's made up of 3 dollars in parts and sells for $399. There are other places to get a TP/MAP signal adjuster that does exactly the same thing for only $59.00.
The major reason for why it doesn't do anything is because of Saturn's Timing. The CST is complex and adjusts timing based on A/F ratio in closed loop mode. The Venom400 doesn't work in open loop mode and by my account the biggest waste of money out there.

venoms are ***** they don't do anything that you couldn't yourself... just push the freakin pedle that much further! the venom works like this. you push peddle 40% the venom makes the car think it's at 50-60%. And since the throtle can't go past 100% whether the computer is on or not it can't help you at WOT. Why not save the $400 for tried and tru like intake, exhaust, etc... ?

P.S. I think they have an article in SPS's tech section. http://www.donet.com/~sps if you want the same stuff that SPS has but for less go to http://www.cwcmotorsports.com it's an SPS reseller that charges less.

Hey Catalyst--
Would there be a way to maybe fool the stock sensors so a turbo upgrade would work? ie send them an ok read from an outside source to make the engine think everythings ok. Maybe add fuel with a 5th and 6th injector in the intake tube. I've seen this done on other cars with reasonable success.

Yes, YEs, and YES!
The SDS-EIC does exactly that. Many Saturn owners have found success with this product including a daily driven Turbo in Florida. If you check out the SDS website you'll see that they have a Turbo Saturn on there customer page. It's Alex's http://www.turbosc2.com/ old set-up and now the Silva's http://www.turbosl2.com/ have it. For the price this is the best place to start. Being able to also modify the A/F ratio is another issue and that is being looked into now with the HKS and A'PEXi products. If you want more info about this contact the SPOC POC John McQuay http://www.saturnspeed.com/ He's in charge of finding out how much, if it works, and how well it works on a Dyno. He'll be updating SPOC members as soon as he gets one in his car.
