Replacing the PCV Valve

I know this is going to sound like a dumb question but here it goes:

I have been reading a ton on this forum over the last few weeks, and I have been noting the common matinence procedures that are recomended like the ects, changing oil, the pcv valve, change the thermostat, plugs and wires, tranny fluid, the fuel filter, and the egr valve. After reading all these things I have read how tos for all the parts except a pcv valve. I was wondering if someone could post where it is located and how to go about changing one out. Please educate a newbie. Thanks.

It's in your valve cover. Pull out the hose and pull the metal tube you see.

How to Change PCV Valve.
Tools/Parts Needed:
2 Hands (Preferably with opposable thumbs)
Carb Cleaner
New PCV Valve
Valve Hose (new if hose is deteriorated)

The PVC valve is located in the valve cover (top "cover" of the engine, near the oil filler cap) On DOHCs, it is immediatly to the right. On SOHCs, it a few inches to the left.The PVC valve is held to the valve cover with a rubber grommet type seat.

1. Remove the hose that connectes the throttle body unit to the PVC valve.
2. Using your hands, remove the PVC valve from the rubber seat. Wiggle it back and forth, then pull it straight out.
3. You can either clean this with carb cleaner, or simply replace it with a new one (<$5 at most auto stores)
4. Put the PVC valve back into the rubber seat and replace the hose.

Don't use an aftermarket part to replace your PCV valve. Only use the OEM valve from Saturn. (Price is virtually the same, but the Saturn part works correctly with Saturn engines, while some aftermarket parts do not.)

I picked up a PCV valve (AC-Delco) from my Saturn dealer last week for $3. And that is from a dealer that usually has a good markup on their parts.

I purchased a Fram FV295 for $2.56 for my 2002 SL1 (SOHC) Saturn. Is this the right one???

I've read that some people can't get the PCV Valve to fit into the OEM hose???? I have 61,000 miles and this is the first time I've tried to do this myself. Saturn did the 30K maintenance for me.
