It kind of implies that Saturn Red Line drivers are male... I think a lot of women would also like the Red Line... This is Saturn with "attitude?"
I like the picture of the car, though. Hope they sell them all... there should be Red Lines every year

Who cares about the fact that the person they use has a penis? You're supposed to be interested in the car. And what a car. It looks wicked in black.

How about a little more excitement.
Country roads with leaves blowing behind a rippin Red line. A race Track shot. Anything that involves speed and handling please. Saturn needs to bolster an excitement image with the Red Lines and this add doesn't do it.

Finally I can enjoy seeing a "Saturn" posing in an aggressive stance....that Black ION RL looks sharp!
They should do the similar ad to the VUE RL too!
Just wonder why they never took such approach to the L300? Or this line won't be killed so soon.

To emphasize the Supercharger and Euro-tuned suspension, ION RL should be showing this in its next printed Ad.
Hey, why can't it? ;)

They should have advertised the VUE RL and ION RL together, to showcase that the Red Line trim is a series of vehicles that applies to more than one Saturn.

Its not a bad ad... should emphasize the sportiness of it ... just like BradJK mentioned: more excitement.
the chose his girl over the saturn...people first doesnt mean putting cars second play on words is kinda subtle.
maybe more in your face ads... action action action

I like page two and can take or leave page one. I think the ad will be more effective if they use a series of many different people on page one if this becomes part of a long running campaign.

I predict them using more people- And I wish it wasn't so clearly an actor in front of Studio Set as the current ad depicts... It just feels phoney.
I predict the next ad will probably be a silver RL, with a female...

I think it is good that they used a guy, it is showing people that Saturns aren't just for females.
Being a guy, when I tell people that I drive a Saturn, they say that I drive a "chick car".
I get offended when people tell me that I drive a "chick car". To me a "chick car" is a Pontiac Sunfire, am I right?
Overall that ad will help w/ Saturn's image.

They are off to a bad start. This is not the lively type of portrayal of the cars that will attract buyers. They need to show these cars at their best and in exciting ways. Saturn... take some lessons from the other companies. These cars need to be made exciting, and the normal Saturn ads will not do! So far I am disappointed in the ad.

IMO any car that comes in four door version is a "chick car". In that definition... My saturn is a "chick car". I have gotten over it. Let's move on...
BTW is that a mis-print in the ad? "THE CHOSE" ?? does not make sense to me. "HE CHOSE" is better english. ( I am not an English major, lol) But structure of the phrase annoys me. "GIRLFRIEND GUY" at the end is equally bothersome to me. I undertand what they are trying for. Please don't try to explain it for me. But IMO the text is annoying, and distracting, and could be done better.
The idea of fotovue's is much better. and makes sense. "THE too fast for you GIRL ." is classic.
Oh, and the photo of the car is excellent. The whole ad get a thumbs-up from me. :grnjump:

WOW...
Thank you!
It's rare for me to receive a compliment.
I was in advertising for three years, and got out of it because my ideas were rarely appreciated. Advertising has gone WAY down hill these days. Gone are the days when ads were suppose to actually sell a product, company, idea, or even attempt to be memorable...
The ads you see now are confusing, boring and bland...
Take Fedex (a company for whom I work now): The ads of yester year were memorable, made you stop what you were doing and watch, carried the company's desire to help you, explained why we were the best choice, and were funny! Now we have ads that you quickly forget, change channels, or find confusing or of double meaning. And they look at me like I'm nuts when I tell them it's a horrible ad and should be pulled.
Volkswagen is one of the only companies I see today that still knows how to make an ad... Although on occasion they have made a flop or two themselves.
Saturn's ads now are all pretty much hit or miss... Let's face it... The last Saturn tv ad you saw, you probably liked more because it was a saturn ad, than because it was actually good.
I long for the advertising greatness of old...
P.S. -
I'm planning on making my own Redline ION/VUE ad(s) as soon as I can get my hands on an RL ION QC, so if you are a model or are interested in modeling or helping with the ads, send me a message.

I think the "too fast for you girl" thing is great too!
I have to agree with you on ads in general and the fedex ones. The "if you're going to ship internationally..." ads are just too silly, but the idea obviously got through my skull even if I'm not going to use FedEX...
The one ad of theirs I like is with the one Asian dude yelling at the other, who calmly says "FedEX".

That's the one I hate most. It got a double meaning.
I've actually heard from people who saw it as the guy was mad because the package didn't arrive, and oh fedex, I guess I can get them to reimburse me...

This is true. The last one i saw for the Vue was when the business guys drive to work and then open their doors to get out, but close them and stay just to listen to the stereo. I dunno, seems kinda silly to me, the only reason i paid any attention was because it was Saturn. I liked the first Ion one I saw though, where the guy keeps changing his mind about getting married, and at the end he is hitting his head against the polymer door, AND THERE WAS NO DENTS! Lol. This was before i owned my Saturn, so i wasnt as biased as i may be now, and thought that it was really good. I hope they can do some fun commercials for the new Ion RL, its got a look that can kill and the balls to back it up :D . Now if only i could come up with 25 grand of disposable income for a new toy :ugh: .

Ha, I'd never thought of it that way! Guess they should show these ads to more people and ask what message they get. :)

""I get offended when people tell me that I drive a "chick car". To me a "chick car" is a Pontiac Sunfire, am I right?"""
How's that any different then a Saturn of cavalier? all three are pretty much the same car. the Sunfire has a better engine though.
"""IMO any car that comes in four door version is a "chick car". In that definition... My saturn is a "chick car". I have gotten over it. Let's move on..."""
I don't think the Stratus is a chick car now, do you? just a pint sized intrepid that's all.

I like the commercial with all the sounds of the car being hit or hit into something. still no dents on the car.
wonder why people don't buy saturns more. i'd rather have a car that will look just good 15-20 years from now as it did the day I got it. I haven't seen any other cars that do with out major work done.

The new ION TV ad is genious. With stuff hitting the sides of it. Absolutely amazing. I laugh every time I see it. Kinda like the VUE ad where the guy Tarzans into the side of it and the car just rocks a little bit as the announcer says "and dent resistant door panels."
As for the print ad ... yes, the car looks amazing, but the rest of the ad is kind of ... dumb. There's really no point to it. It's a guy standing in front of tools, displaying he chose his car over his girlfriend ... once more, dumb. They could have done a lot better with that, but the part where they actually focus on the car itself is pretty decent.
I wish I could afford a new car.

How about something less ambiguous? Like: Saturn kicks @$$.
It's not sexist, doesn't put any other manufacturers down, etc. Make it about the car and driving. No more family crap when you're talking about the Redline Ion.

Saturn has crappy advertising. Have you seen their new commercials? They start telling their (boring) life story, and at the end say.. "Thats why I bought a Saturn"...
