Saturn really needs to consider a factory radio option that includes an aux input for portable music devices. My buddy just bought a new BMW 325 that has one, and I am sure other more affordable cars offer the option as well.

The "Ipod Generation" would be most grateful.

I'm sure I would too, but I got the mp3 player...no tape deck. I guess technically I don't NEED to connect my ipod to the mp3 player...but it sure would be nice.

The FM transmitters suck.

Yah, I have 2 different FM transmiters, neither work very well. You have to get one that doesn't comply with part 15 of the FCC rules.

I found a few sites that showed you how to make your own, and it would transmit up to 200ft. I would think you'd need more power for something like that, though.

Err.... I find the tape adapters suck anyways. I've found the quality is quite low through them

Why don't you burn your MP3's onto a CD-R?

I do burn them to cdr, but the ease of having 10,000 songs at my disposal at any given time in the car would be most cool. I'm just being whiny and lazy and jealous really. I could always buy an aftermarket unit with an aux input, but it would just get stolen like all the others. I'm over aftermarket.

Has anyone come across an adapter for 2003 stock stereos? Am very much interested, have searched the internet far and wide, have no luck to date........

The sound quality of BA1404-ish FM transmitters (transmitter on a chip) is very bad ..... and even if you had a top-of-the-line broadcast transmitter in your trunk, the frequency cut-off is over 7KHz under what your CD player will produce.

These exceed FCC regulations and are even of lower quality than these $20 soundfeeders available today.

I guess it depends on the quality of your unit, but its really no different than aux inputs...but make sure you have Dolby noise filtering turned off.

I've tried a tape adapter on my '94 SL1. I gave up. Sounds like crap. I'd rather just listen to the *******s on the radio

And it also defeats the purpose of having an IPOD or other MP3 player anyway. Plus if you don't have an MP3 compatible CD player (obviously the factory one isn't!) then you're stuck with the limitations of a regular music CD and not the 100X more you can fit in that space if it's an MP3.

I'm working on building a computer into my car. I'm pretty much done everything but the mounting. For info on other similar projects check out the forums at www.mp3car.com There are a lot of experts on everything that relates to getting mp3 players or computers into your car. Posts about the best RF modulators, stereos with Aux inputs, etc are very common. Almost everyone on there would disagree with using a modulator. You really lose a lot of quality.

There are some inexpensive aftermarket CD-players with Aux inputs out there. I can't think of who, but one of the cheaper brand names has one for around $100 I think. You probably don't need to worry abou that getting stolen!
