This is very exciting! I like it more than the SKY. It is a really cool looking car. If I could afford it I would buy it!

No. It would be an excuse for GM to say "Saturns don't sell. Let it die."

Saturn needs to build some innovative products to get everything rolling. It's not exactly what I would like to see but at least it's a start. Saturn has to do something, especially when you start to see more and more quotes of this nature...
"Saturn is rumoured to be going the way of Oldsmobile, having actually made a profit in only one of the last 13 years."

Yea to this or the SKY or whatever the SKY's new name is now days.
Saturn really needs to get something interesting in the showroom...people will come in to look at it and just walk out with something practical like 3 box sedans...thats the way it works.

I don't like it very much. From the looks of it, it was never meant to be a production vehicle anyway.

I think not.
It's so radically different than anything Saturn makes now, and really does NOT fit in with their line AT ALL. This is not the way to promote the rest of your line, and complement it. A "halo" car like this will only serve to make your other models look crappy (and let's face it - these days, Saturn doesn't need to be doing that to themselves, the press is already doing it).
Saturn needs to take an existing model and make it PERFECT. Redline is a step in the right direction. Curve is not.
Possibly if the Curve was less "radical", it may be a viable option as kind of an L-series coupe. But releasing a car like that is just asking for it, given Saturn's perception in the media right now.

Saturn's current model lines are boring. Build the Curve. Saturn needs a new car to spice up it's model line. The Ion looks like a box, at least the Curve has some style!!!!!!!!!!
Build IT!!!!!!!!!!

I think that Saturn should build it. For the first time Saturn will have taken a positive step forward in the refinment department. But I think that they should also start now in "pushing" the momentum on to current products, until the Curve gets here. It will show that Saturn can grow, be flexiable, and refine their products. The Curve, it be coool!:D :D

Although I don't really care too much for the car, I think it would be a good move for Saturn.

The curve is a great idea. Saturn does need a little something to attract more people to their cars. I have been saying that Saturn needed to create an American Muscle type car to compete in this world, and if the Curve doesn't, it will be a step towards it. They needed something that will appeal to the teens. A rear wheel drive car with lots of power is just the thing!:D
But I don't get where people are saying that the ION looks like a box or was just a feeble attempt that failed. What are you guys TALKING about! This car is awesome! if you look at the headlights just right, they kinda look like eagel eyes. And if people are looking for speed out their, look at the ION. Forget about Honda. The Civic held the land speed record in its class (which the ION is in by the way) @183mph. :whoa: whoa. Then Saturn brought the ION to the test and shattered the Civic's speed going 207mph!:o: Holy CRAP!!! thats 20+mph faster! The ION is THE car to own if you get something in its class and your looking for speed.
But again I say that the Curve is just the thing Saturn needs.
Oh, almost forgot. The press is putting a bad rap on Saturn for some reason, but really, salea is down a bunch in '03 for every car co. Not a one of them had a good year! So you can drop this whole "Saturn is dying off" B/S! :x

Saturn needs to expand their lineup, maybe this would help?
The only way to find out if it will help or hurt Saturn is to try it.
I think GM needs to take a chance with Saturn and continue expanding its lineup.
I say build the Curve, Take a chance.

Okay, my guilt over getting rid of my 1996 SC2 is gone! Heck, I might even consider trading in my 1993 SL2 for one of these Curves!

I voted yes. Saturn would do better getting new blood into showrooms in which this car would attract.
However, I do agree with you on the subject of refining existing product. Look what happened to the L. The same thing will happen to the Ion if they don't perfect it and listen to US.

Saturn cars today are boring. The only car I would be interested in is the VUE. They need to create some excitement, and this would do that. I think they should also look into creating the SKY as well. I just bought a '03 Sebring Convertible LXi and it is awesome! Saturn needs to create cars like that! Something that is nice, a lot of fun, and relatively affordable!

I don't like it enough to personally buy one, or trade in my car for it, but if it can keep Saturn's integrity and unique qualities while increasing the kinds of people who buy Saturn, then I give it a rousing "hell yea!"

I have been all worked about the lack of "DIFFERENTIATION" between the GM brands. That is why Olds died.
If Pontiac gets the 2 person Convertible
And Saturn get the 4 person coupe,
And Chevy gets the 2dr wagon. (coupe with a rear hatch?)
I am NOT sure what to think about all of this... Hmmm. :dizzy: I must go to my thinking spot.. (Think Think Think... )
Heck, why not do it.... :)

Well the water is finally begining to boil in Saturns kettle!! I say get this car to the showroom asap-BUT remember the L! I hope that saturn/GM has learned from the awful mess with the early L models and geets the build quality, quality of the components right-the first time.Anyone have an idea of the changes coming in 05 for the ION? If the center pod is going Saturn will be eating alot of crow.I hope that saturn isn't in apanic mode over lower than expected sales and screws up this nice car.Something is going to happen. Here in north Jersey I see more S sereis than IONS and the S series has been history now for 2 years!.The ION reminds me of the newsest Star Trek show-Enterprise- a nice show but hardly anyone watches it.What is the real story behind the ION's slow sales-hard seats, center pod or the auto press slamming it? I haven't taken one out on the road but it seems to be a very solid nice car.I hope that GM will make sensible changes to the ION. I have figured out that GM is not going to let Saturn keep the same model for a very long period of time like the good old S series.

I'd guess that the IONs are not selling as well as the S-Series because the gasoline mileage is not as good. Check out the mileage rating by the EPA on: 2004 Saturn ION with 5-speed manual transmission (http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/2001cartablef.jsp?id=19648) 2002 Saturn SL with 5-speed manual transmission (http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/2001cartablef.jsp?id=17619)I chose the models of the ION and SL that got the best mileage. Remember we are talking about inexpensive cars which should appeal to people with financial concerns/issues, so gasoline mileage should be an important factor for them. We see the best mileage rating for the ION is 26/35/29 MPG (city/highway/combined) and for the SL it is 29/40/33 MPG (city/highway/combined). Not a huge difference but using the EPA annual estimates we see the fuel costs for the ION at $725 versus $636 for the SL, a difference of $89. Over 5 years that would be $445. Meanwhile there are other similar cars to the Saturn ION on the market that get better combined fuel economy; a few of them have similar MSPRs as the Saturn ION (alphabetical list): Dodge Neon/SRT-4/SX 2.0
Ford Focus
Honda Civic
Honda Civic (hybrid)
Honda Insight hybrid
Hyundai Accent/Brio
MINI Cooper (premium gasoline)
Nissan Sentra
Scion xA
Toyota Corolla
Toyota Echo
Toyota Prius (hybrid)
Volkswagen Golf (diesel)
Volkswagen Jetta (diesel)
Volkswagen New Beetle (diesel)There are probably others for the list...
But in this thread we are primarily writing about the Saturn Curve, a nice sporty car. So it would be more appropriate to compare the Saturn ION to the Saturn S-Series with respect to horsepower, torque, and acceleration. As of now the IONs come with a 140 horsepower engine while the S-Series with DOHC engines came with 124 horsepower. ION wins. The Curve will win too.

I actually like it a lot. I am not much into a modern or European looking car, whatever that means, but really, some of these new cars look like crap and I don't want anything to do with bubble lights or big mouth bass looking grills, all that jazz.. The curve looks nice though. I would really appreciate a car like that under a different name (Curve? stupid!), with a hefty v-8 or larger, OR a Supercharged 6 cylinder... Something rear wheel drive and a TWO seater... No four people cars.. No family sedan, a true sports car, or roadster.. As a mother of two, with a passion for cars, I would buy a Saturn sports car like that, especially with two seats, powerful engine, and hopefully RWD!!! :)

Production Approval for the Curve Announced!
The Saturn Curve has been approved for Production!
GM suggests that it will only start around $20,000(Not too bad)!
I cant wait to get behind the wheel of this new vehicle!

I think its a great idea to build the curve and more "radical" vehicles like it! Anything that makes people do a double take and say Whoa..that's a Saturn? is all good with me :)

We definately could use a RWD sports car. My cousin has a 2nd-gen. RX-7, and man, it's fun as hell to ride in up and down the hill/mountain passes.
BUILD IT! :-)

YES! But if it is 3200lbs like the solstice, I am going to go kick a Saturn engineer in the head. Thats more than a damn Corvette.
David 93 SL2m

I was thinking about the weight issue too. My L200 weighs about 700 pounds more than my S-Series. I know the L-Series are larger cars and all, but 700 pounds more?

Saturn is so far behind the competition they can never recover. They NEED to build this car. I have showed this car to many people at my work and they can't believe it was a Saturn.

Its been said before on this thread, build it because Saturn needs to change its image. Saturn is heading down the right path by bringing something into the showroom that is flashy, sporty, and appealling to others outside of the Saturn family currently.
When Porsche builds a SUV you know they must be in high demand. Sports cars dont keep corporate divisions alive . What sells does. SUVs and Pick up trucks are the most popular vehicles in the country. Saturn needs to be spending their efforts on a pick up truck. The sucess of the VUE makes that type of logic very clear.

i think the curve is a great looking car i hope they do produce it. But it seems the gm isnt going to let saturn come out with anything. every concept saturn gets is turned down if gm would leave saturn alone saturn could recover and another thing i hate the fact that saturn is making metal cars go back to polymer if the corvette is made of fiberglass than let saturns be made of plastic gm is going to destroy saturn i say let saturn grow into what it was originally meant for to attract the youth and bring customers away from the crappy imports. I see more old people driving saturns now adays than young people and thats because saturn has become boring. I say spice things up bring the youth back to saturn. and that exactly what this car can do that is what it was meant for just look at f&f thats what the youth wants plain and simple it all equals SPEED
