Generally speaking, how often do you wash or have your Saturn washed? Once a week, once a month? More or less frequently?
Post your comments.
Thanks!

Since the Saturn is parked outside, I only wash it two or three times throught the spring, summer and fall. I don't like salt staying on it, though, so it is washed more frequently in the winter. So I would have to vote "Rarely."

During the summer it seems to be every week to 2 weeks. During the rainy season why bother unless there is a long clear stretch of weather just ahead.

For the first 10 years, almost weekly for three seasons, about monthly during Winter (any time that the temperature is above freezing long enough).
For the past year our rainfall has been way above average, so I have probably only washed my car monthly. :-(

Whenever I feel like it. I probably wash it most in the spring to get the salt off of it. Or during the summer when it want it to look nice.

ummmm, i think it was washing in september last, really cant remember. I live on a dirt road, so washing it is basically pointless.
I have a muddy gravel/dirt driveway, so washing is pointless if it's raining or puddled. One splash and that's it for the wash. I find myself hosing the car off a lot and washing once or more a week during the summer. In the cold months when the outside water is turned off and the hose put away, rinsing is a pain in the neck, so I'll go to the self-serve car wash when rain isn't in the forecast.
This 93 SL1 is the first car I've washed regularly :dizzy:

When it needs it for what I am doing. It might go a month without a wash and then more than once a week if i'm using it to carry a business related passenger. Also with the heavy use of road de-icers in our area I wash mine more in winter than in summer time.

Two to three times per week by hand and NEVER thru a car wash with brushes since they can create swirls and other damage in the paint especially on the polymer panels.

My car sits outside, and since it's black now it shows the dirt even faster...ugh...:( In the winter time, I was it either between snow storms, or on a nice 35-40 degree day. In the summer, fall, and spring probably at least once a week, if not once every 2 weeks.

Mines completely infrequent. I haven't washed my car in prolly 3 months. I do keep the inside clean however, and get complements how my car STILL smells like a new car... and it's over 3 years old :)

Durind the summer rainy season in Florida, it gets an automatic pressure wash almost daily when it rains. During the rest of the year I use Blue Coral one-step wash and wax, usually not even having to wipe it with a chamois after rinsing. Twice a year it gets a full wax with McGuire's Gold Class liquid.

Try to wash it every week. Because I live in a condo, I either do it at work in the shop, or if I am lazy, go to a touchless car wash near my place.

I wash when it's dirty, and only if there is a good forecast for the next several days.
This averages out to about monthly.

Whenever I can find time or good weather to do it. I did have to wash it twice this past month due to out street being torn up for "improvements."
Do like the fact that it is silver & it hides the dirt pretty well.

My blue/black shows dirt like there is no tomorrow. So I'd have to say I was it once a week in the sumer, once a month when I'm in school. When I get it back I will definitely wash it, I haven't even seen my car in about a month. The inside of my car is a different story...

Whenever the dirt and muck get bad enough to hide the true colour of the car. I live on a dirt road, so washing is an effort in futility.

Whenever I have a little extra cash. So although that usually means once or twice a month, it can be up to six times a month. Of course, silver hides dirt well, so unless you look closely it doesn't make a huge difference in the appearance of the car.

I would say once a week at least unless the weather is being uncoperative. I try to wax it once every 3 or 4 months.

I live on a dirt road, so I try to wash it once a week, or when it gets to point where I can't see out the back window.

Dark blue is even tougher than black or green to keep clean.
During the summer, weather permitting, I can count on stopping at the car wash every week. In winter it's once or twice a month unless the birds decide to take care of their business...

Well, when I had my '92 SL It got washed at least monthly. Then when I had my '94 SL, it was lucky to get washed monthly. My '02 SL usually got washed by the dealership service guys (blah, should have done it myself). Just got a '03 Ion I Sedan, just 2 weeks ago, and it got washed last week, but this week it is raining.

I would say that I average at least one wash per month...... it depends mostly on the weather forecast and if I have a date. :D I love the color of my SC2 but Dark Green is so hard to keep clean!

Once a week in a heated garage.

I wash/touch up my Saturn weekly during the racing season. Don't do a whole lot to her, once she's stored for the winter, in the garage. :)
Don't have to really wash her much, since she spends so much time in the garage anyway, but I at least wipe her down and clean her up once a week, usually a day or two before race day.

Mine gets washed when it goes in for service. The service dept.
does it as a mater of course. During the winter I will take it to a self service wash and simply rinse off the salt and road crap.

I usually wash my Saturn (or have it washed) every two weeks. I think in the spring I'll have it detailed. Has anyone done that yet?

I wash mine pretty much on a weekly basis. I use Meguirs Soap, Eagle One Wax-as-u-dry and wax it every quarter with Meguirs Gold polish. Also, the California car duster comes in handy during the dusty periods.
I hate when brake dust builds up on a car--especially the luxury automobiles. A clean wheel in the back and a brownish/reddish/blackish one in front.
I try to keep it looking new but after one year its impossible since its used everyday. It has about 8coats of wax since i got it and its garaged every night, but pebble chips and stuff are impossile to pervent. Its washed weekly.

I would have to say every other weekend keeps it looking "ok", but i do try to get at it every weekend when possible.
:dizzy: Now what is the story with wax on polymer ? Does it just protect the finish or clear coat, or does it keep the color from fadding? :?:

For the first 3 or 4 years, I washed my car every couple of weeks and kept it polished as well. I always made sure the water was still beading. Now that it's going on 7 years old and it has 169,000 miles, it pretty much only gets washed when I take it to the Saturn retailer for servicing.

My blue/black SC2 and black ION are also dirt magnets! When it's warm outside I wash both cars once a week, including vacuuming and using Armor-All on the SC2. On the SC2 I pop off the door pulls, ashtray, plastic piece under the e-brake, radio bezel and get all the dirt/lint/crumbs out. The sad thing is, after about two days of driving (which for me is almost 400 miles down the interstate and in the back woods of Georgia) they are dirty again. :( The SC2 starts out a very shiny dark blue when she's clean and ends up a dull black when she's dirty. The ION is pure black when clean and a dull gray when it's dirty. In the winter time I only wash them every couple of weeks.

During dry periods, I wash it once a week, however during this time of year in KY, its snows or rains every other day, I hate driving a dirty car.

During the summer, I'll wash it either at home or at a do-it-yourself car wash at least once every two weeks.
During the winter, I take it through an automatic car wash once a month.

As little as possible. I bought a car with plastic body panels so I could ignore it here in the salt capital of the universe.
Saturn: Drive it year around. Wash it whenever the wife can't stand the way it looks.
Suburban: Drive it year around, keep slopping paint on the chips and hope for the best.
Lotus: Don't drive it in winter. Dry it out well if it gets rained on on autocross day. Don't bother washing it.
Triumph: Don't drive it in the winter. Wash and wax it now and again. Dry it out well if it gets rained on, but that's usually unlikely.

I wash it weeklymonthly...with the Collinite's 845 on it. Most of the time after it rains, a Handi Wipe does it fine. Nothing like a free rinse from Mom Nature.

I used to wash her at least once a week. But, with work now, I really have been neglecting her, poor dirty thing.
I did have her fully TropiCare'd last month! (For those that don't know, TropiCare is a local detailer here that has made and perfected his own products, top of the line in this area) She was so pretty afterwards too! The hood was so shiny, it reflected like a mirror :D
Thinking about it, it's probably time for her to get another bath... I'll have to do that this weekend!

I introduced my new RL to Meguiar's Gold Class wax on the 4th of July, so now I can let the daily rains rinse most of the daily dust off. After driving along the coast, though, getting the salt film off is a high priority.

Since my SC2 is gold and looks sharp when clean. I wash it at least twice a week. But, Florida the weather/rain rinses it off daily. Use wax while u dry on it and it works well.

Never wash it. Every spring I remove the wheels a detail everything to remove crud and rust. Most of my cars last for many years. Mike

If no rain in the 7-day forecast at least 2x a week (more or less on Fridays after work for the night out and sunday evening for the work week).
If there is rain planned just concentrate on the inside cleaning (vaccum & dust the inside)
