Excluding a spouse, have you ever let a friend drive your Saturn? Would you let them do it again?

when i had my 1991 i let my friend drive it all the time to learn how to drive a stick, he was always afraid of breaking it... but he got used to it and then drove it a lot actually... Now that I have my 2000 I wont even let anyone touch it... even my friend who perfected driving my old sattie... :)
Yes, I let a friend drive my old 92, I haven't had a reason to let him drive the 93 yet, but probably would. He's a careful driver and knows I'd find out if he wasn't being nice to my car.
Most of my friends, no way, I know how they drive, plus my car is probably worth more to me than to an insurance company if something did happen :(

I've only let my girlfriend drive my current car...no one else knows how to drive stick. As for the other Saturns; I've let friends take them for a spin around the block as long as I'm in the passenger seat. Most of my friends are responsible.

I've let my boyfriend drive both of my cars. He was the one driving when the SL died  but I know it wasn't his fault, so I won't hold it against him. I was too tired to drive that night, and told him to keep going when it made funny noises. He's also driven my SC when I just didn't feel like driving, but I trust him completely and he taught me how to drive stick on his car. :)
I've let a couple people drive my SL, including my ex-boyfriend and his sister, when they were both learning how to drive - it was the first car either of them drove!
Wierd enough, one person who has NEVER driven my SC is my mom. I won't let her!! Her driving scares me. She drove my SL only twice in the two years it ran.

It doesn't happen too often. Sometimes I'll even let a friend take my SC2 on an errand alone especially if their car isn't as nice as mine. If I'm visiting a friend in a town that I'm not familiar with and they can drive a stick shift, I'll let them drive my car if we can't use their vehicle. It's not really a big deal to me..... sometimes I like being a passenger in my own car. :p

yes, i let a friend autocross my saturn. he brought it back with the front brakes smoking! (left foot braker). another friend i let run a session at an open track event in my saturn. that was interesting since i was corner working during that session so i got to watch my own car zooming around the track. back in 1992 when i got my 92 sc new, *everybody* wanted to drive it. it was a novelty.

Yes, I've let friends drive my vehicles. They have to earn the privelidge of driving my vehicles first as I'm very particular about how my vehicles are driven. Even then, I'm typically in the vehicle while they are driving.

I let my best friend drive my Saturn sometimes. We sometimes would change cars for the weekend (she works at Saturn with me and usually has a VUE or LW, so sometimes I need the space and she just takes my car. But luckily, both my ex and my current partner can't drive a manual, and I am NOT training them on my car!!!!

Other than myself, I have let one other person race my car. Once, at one of the SPC Rallies, I let Lane take the keys to my car and he ran it down the 1/4 mile, cutting a STELLAR light and a pretty good 1/4 mile ET.. He had a great time. I had a wonderful time watching someone else race my car, but in general, I don't even allow the love of my life to drive the car, much less anyone else. I also don't allow the children in it without a lot of supervision. I am pretty "funny" about who is allowed in the car and why....

i occasionally let my girlfriend drive it, like if we trade cars for the wknd so I can do work on hers. I taught her how to drive on my truck. I also let one of my friends (staff on the trip) take my car to go get food for the rest of us while on a mission trip. Other than them I rarely let my dad drive my car and will not let my mom drive it...she's not very good with manuals.

Yes, I have let my best friend drive my Saturn on several ocassions, and he allows me to drive his Altima every so often. It was actually the first car he drove with his driver's license (I got mine a year before him).

Hmmmmmmmmmmm....
Does ....letting your fiance' drive it 3 blocks down the road (and NO further),
then immediately back,
as I stand in a parking lot watching,
just so I can see how pretty my new car looked on the highway count...????
if not....then NO WAY !!!!!!! ;-)

I've got an ex-girlfriend who reminds me now and then that I never let her drive the V8 Monza I had back in high school. I'll probably let her drive my '97 SC1, but I haven't even told her that I got a new car yet! Nobody else has driven my Saturn yet, but only because I haven't even had it for a month yet.

I let A friend drive the L ONCE just to see that it wasn't as bad as he thought. I have a manual now and NO one knows how to drive it, i'd say no anyway. It's my first brand new car!!!

Once, but he was both my friend and my boss, so I wasn't about to refuse when he wanted to drive a little. It was only a few blocks in town.
Oops, twice, but the second was a lady friend of mine who wanted a little practice with the stick, so I gave her a lesson around my cul-de-sac.
Other than that, only family members, but that's 'cause they pay for insurance.

I used to let my friends drive my sc2 so they could practice driving a stick. Then they all got new cars around the time I bought my vue. They all chose automatics even though they could have got a 5spd in the car they were buying. Then they have the nerve to ask if they can practice on my new car. :dazed: So no one but me and my wife has ever driven the vue.

My friend Matt was actuallly the first one to drive my car...I didn't know 5-speed, and he drove it off the lot to show me how to drive. Gotta love 1.5 hour test drives and me stalling and bucking while pulling it into the lot again-heheheh. OH well...Matt still drives it on occassion. Although he's a maniac, I trust him a lot. TommyH on here drove mine as well..only once since he's paranoid of red cars. Goof ;)

well, really only me that drives my Saturn. When I lived with my grandparents, my grandfather used to back it out of the driveway and park it in front of the house when I was sleeping and he needed to go somewhere.
Other than that, I taught my girlfriend stick ONCE in a parking lot, but that's it. No one else I know can drive stick.

I've never let a friend drive my car, as I've had no need for a friend to drive it nor have any of them asked. My mom drove my old SW2 once and my dad has driven my current once. My dad used to drive my old K-car quite a bit when I was away at college, so it wouldn't crap out when I got back home for a break.

I let a friend drive my SC2 once, but that was after too many beers for me. Then I let my mom and dad borrow it this past summer, as they were down one vehicle. My dad was working on his '92 S-10 all summer long, fixing broken hard lines on the fuel sender and repairing rotted body supports on the bed. He always takes a long time on projects like those. Anyway, I had to reclaim the SC2, after my primary vehicle went down.

I've only let my mom drive my SL1. She said she doesn't really like it because she's so short. She drives a Jeep Wrangler, which with the seat set up so high, lets her sit in a position so she can actually see out. And she said my car is actually harder for her to get into and out of than her Jeep, and she's used to the truck feel of her Jeep. But yeah, I'd probably let a couple of my friends drive my Saturn.....if they knew how to drive stick. I've offered to teach any number of people on my car. My best friend Marc let me drive his 4.5L '86 Cadillac Eldurado America II Limited Edition (one of 150 made) many times, so I should return the favor sometime. And some of my friends (and relatives) I just don't trust after seeing the way they drive. Like someone else said, the car is worth way more to me than to my insurance company.

Yes I let my friends drive my Saturns. All of my friends are good drivers and the cars are made by Saturn. I'm of the opinion that if being driven by somebody other than myself is harmful to the car, I should've bought a different car.

There are only a few people that I have given the privelage to drive my car....my dad, my sister, my bro-in-law, and one of my friends. Other then that, I am behind that drivers seat the entire time. It's not that I don't trust people to drive it, it's just I know my car, and I know how to handle her in certain situations.

When I first got my L, I let all my friends drive it, at least around the block. No harm done, though, B passed more cars with my L in one afternoon than I have in the last 14 months I've owned it! He said it has very good pickup for a NA 4-cylinder. hehe
When B needs a nice four door, which is quite rarely, I let him borrow my L and I get to drive his 5-speed '91 Eagle Talon TSi AWD with a 16G turbo. I do pass people in that car! ;)

Not a spouse, but I have taken my 2 nephews out and let them drive my SL2 prior to getting thier liscences, supervised of course.
They both will have Saturns so good uncle I am, I showed them a video of someone blowing out thier differential pin and told them "that's what happens, and the girls will all laugh at you for messing up your ride".

I've let several people drive my SC2, and usually get amused comments.
Most notably, a couple years back during new years, me and a couple friends went out to a party an hour away and we took my car since it got the best gas milage. Since I intended on drinking, I had one of my friends be designated driver, and he drove it back. I got a good laugh out of his complaints about the transmission; he regularly drives a Ranger, and was completely unprepared for how tight the shifts were.
"Good god! This thing drives like an arcade game! No wonder you keep beating me in Gran Turismo!"

While I was away for a few days, my friend Liz was driving my Saturn. When I got back home last night there was bad news waiting for me. She said that the car had made loud banging noises when she stepped on the gas. Although curiosity was killing me, we waited until this morning to investigate.
After a brief road test, this is what I surmised. Liz drives aggressively on the hilly roads around here. And, the banging she heard as she stomped on the gas was the sound of two large soft drink bottles rolling around and slamming into the inside of the trunk lid. It seems that Liz forgot about them being in there.
Anyway, my Saturn is still running great.

I will allow only one person to drive my saturn and that's Jammer, namely because he also has a saturn, but also because he's the only one of my friends who drive like I do. Other than that I won't even let my parents drive my car. And my girlfriend hates the fact that I won't let her either.
I guess saturns lead one to hostility when it comes to sharing, lol.

On a few occasions we've let friends drive our 03 Ion and our former 93 SL2. None of the family want to for some reason-They're all Ford and Chevy people...
I have a friend that bugs me about wanting to drive my 78 Caprice and I won't let him, I figure I baby that car too much and if anyone is gonna beat up on "The Big Iron Bastage" it will be _ME_!

When I bought my ION Redline, I let all my friends who know how to drive stick try it out. By that I mean, they regularly drive manual transmission cars. I know which ones I can trust with my car. Also, many of my friends are gear heads and really know their way around cars. I'm always asking them for advice, so I felt it was only fair to let them take it for a spin!
My parents both used to drive manual trannies over 25 years ago. Now they only drive automatics and have forgotten how to drive manual. They are both afraid to drive my car!

Hmm....
Family
- As Dad used to work in a garage, if I have a problem, usually he takes it for a drive
- Mom picked the car up from the mechanic/dealer for me when I first got it. I don't think she's driven it since
- My sister drove it once. I had a call for work (Fire Dept.) and she'd blocked me in, so I took her car and she wanted it back so she brought mine to the station and took hers
Friends
- My best friend Justin has drive my car. I was drunk
- My ex g/f drove the car as I was quite tired and almost falling asleep
- A guy at school drove it as he wanted to drive one before buying a Saturn.
- A guy I work with drove it once when I ran upon a call before the guys got there. I ended up riding to the hospital with the paramedics in the ambulance due to a critical patient and my car got driven back to the station for me.

Let a "friend" drive my SC2 couple years ago mainly because she was one of those arrogant "Saturns suck" Honda owners. It was quicker than she thought it would be.
Also let a friend drive it when we took a 14-hour trip to California. His driving scared me. Worst was on the way back. We left immediately after a race, so about 3 a.m. I'm in the passenger seat taking a nap when I sense we're stopping. "Where are we?" I ask. We were on a freeway onramp, he was tired so he decided to pull off. Did I mention my car has blacked out taillights and trucks were entering the highway? :x Since then no one else has driven my girl.

Back in college I had a 98 SL1. I took it to a party one night and, doing the responsible thing, put my keys with everyone elses in the collective drawer where only DD's would get to them. The next morning I got up to go home and it was gone! I freaked out thinking it had been stolen (it had already been borken into once). Turns out my friends had taken it to Waffle House. They swear I told them it was okay, though I don't remember any of it.
Now, married, I get to drive my wife's 93 SL2 rarely, and never with her in the car.

I love it when people ask me to drive my car. Three people have learned how to drive in my car, one of which asked me "Which one is the gas, and which is the brake?" She learned how to drive in under an hour ^_^. I've also had people drive when I was too tired to drive or just to surprise them when they playfully ask to drive... >.>
My car is so easy to drive.

Once, I let a friend at the time drive my then-new 1996 SL2 while I piloted his 1993 SC2. Amazing difference both to my ears and to my hands. I preferred my car, no question. He had a 1988 Mustang 5.0 hatch before he got his SC2 so he was very hard on the four-banger as he was used to gobs of torque instead of winding his engine out before each shift. I returned his vehicle to him pronto before he wore out my clutch!

Never! My one friend has gotten in three accidents in her 2002 SL1 (only 1 her fault) before it was totaled by a driver running into it on the street. Now she has a '05 Vue for the last three months, I'm just waiting to see how long before she gets in an accident with it. She drives like a maniac! No way will she get behind the wheel on my car. The only people besides me and my boyfriend that have driven my car are my parents. They thing I should take my younger brother out test driving in it but I don't know if I could take that!

Very rarely.
Only people other than my parents are my boyfriend (because he 'critiques' the way I drive), my ex (ONCE, and only once!) and a friend when I was too sick to drive. That's about it.
I had to leave my car at my boyfriend's parents house the other day, and his mom asked me to leave my keys there so that in case they needed to move it they could. I know I should trust her, but I was still a little nervous about it! She was on the other side of the driveway when we came back, but all safe and sound, thank goodness!
