Do you have an aftermarket stereo system in your Saturn? If so, what kind? Describe your setup...
Thanks!

:p
Well.. lets see... I started with a Sony CDX-C5000X headunit at 50watts per channel to start... then added shortly there-after, custom modified my cd pocket in the stereo kit , and mounted my equalizer in it.
Running Kenwood speakers in the front doors, the stock speaks still in the rear doors , soon to be replaced.
Running a Crunch Powerzone P2200 amp (1600 watts max at 2 ohms ), currently pushing two Pyle Pro 12" subs at 350 watts each.
I have a Kenwood 250 watt amp and a sony 250 watt amp, both of which will be installed. Kenwood to the fronts to match the Kenwood doors, and the Sony to the rear doors.
I have pictures of them on my gallery here...
MY GALLERY HERE ON SATURN FANS (http://www.saturnfans.com/photos/showgallery.php3?ppuser=5495&cat=500)
I did all the work myself. :D . and will soon redo the install of the amp , with Zero guage wire and a distribution block under the dash .
Anywho.. that is all :)

54x4 receiver, new components (though I might add that Saturn premiums got the job done with the help of that receiver) two 12s in a bandpass box, two of the mono channel star shaped amps to push em, all sony.....with the exception of the cadence 1F cap and dynomat scattered around the car. Oh yea, can't forget my trusty companions: my girlfriend and most importantly, my Apple Ti 15.2 for a "screen".

Sony Xplod Head unit double den still didn't fit factory radio housing, don't know where to get ABS plastic since thats what the guy at best buy said he uses and makes himself so i thought..... didn't happen but now, i am not paying $45 to have him put one in as for the speakers i have the Sony X-plod 61/2? all the way around i think they are 61/2 may be wrong what ever the factory put in i replaced w/ same measurements.

I've got a half done system. I started it when I got my SL1 in 98. I have a Kenwood KDC-6011 head unit (it has a flip down detachable face-plate). Mated to the head unit is a 10-disc kenwood changer (i forgot the model number). I have 4 Pioneer 2-way speakers. Right now, I have two amps hooked up to the 4 speakers (I've got two subwoofer boxes, but no subs). One amp is a Hifonics Zeus Z440 4-channel bridged to 2 channels for the back speakers and a Crunch 2-channel amp for the front two speakers.
Later, I will get 2 hifonics 12" subs in the trunk and I would like to get another Hifonics Zeus 4-channel amp for the 2 subs. An eq will come at some point to put just below the head unit in that half din space left.

Well, I have a record player mounted in the glovebox. Not really. I have a totally stock sound system, and it's good enough for me. I'd rather put money into the engine than the speakers.

I have replaced my stock tape deck TWICE with Pioneer CD head units.
After returning from deployment I found that someone else liked my first Pioneer head unit enouph to smash the drivers side window and quite professionally un-install it.:x After I got the window fixed and most of the class cleaned out I replaced it with a more up-to-date Pioneer CD deck.
I have also replaced all 4 stock speakers with Pioneer three-ways.

Ripped the factory installed out and put in a new Sirius satellite system. WOW! I was pleasantly surprised how nice it sounds, no static, no commercials for the most part. Check that out!

Last summer, I decided to put in an eMpeg mp3 player in my car. I was able to make it fit in the space below the radio/tape player and the AC/Heat controls.
I used a 800W amp and 2 10"s in the back with pioneer 6.5". It is very nice knowing that the music you hear is what you want with no commercials. It is the best mod ever done to my car.

Unfortunately my answer to this poll was yes. It was the biggest mistake in my decision to lease my '03 L200.
I wanted a CD AND cassette player and the dealer did not have a car with both. So they told me they would install an aftermarket model. I asked if I could see it and they assured me it would be "better and have more features" than the factory installed one. I agreed and have very much regretted it. I considered returning the car in the 30-day trial period in part because I do not like the audio system. Maybe I should have returned the vehicle for that reason and others. :tear:
The installed a Sanyo. I'm not sure of the model number but I have whined to you about it here in other posts. ;) The controls are far too small, esp. the volume. I was used to having dials in my previous cars so I still can't get adjusted to these tiny buttons. Plus I find it a big hassle having to remove the face plate every night to bring into the house with me.
I asked about getting a factory radio/CD installed but the dealer told me they are over $400. My sales rep. suggested I look for a used one online and they would install it. Of course I would be charged for the labor. I might do this but I could have avoided the hassle if I had just made better decisions before the lease. Next time I will know better. :ugh:

Here's a picture of my empeg car deck. I know a few people had wanted to see this.
http://www.saturnfans.com/photos/data/500/3610empeg.jpg
For my speakers I'm running Infinity Kappa Components in front, and 2Ways in back. Powered by a 4x50 Rockford Fosgate Amp (that I need to get rid of). I also have a 10" Rockford Fosgate sub powered by a 1x100 RF Amp (that I also need to get rid of)
It sounds really good, but can't get as loud as I would like due to how weak the amps are.

yes i currently am running a system in my saturn sc1...but the car has been at the repair shop for this problem of oil in the radiator overflow tank for 22 days and counting...my guy is super slow. right before this problem i was gonna save up and buy a new Boston amp and 2 12" boston Pro series subs...but fixing this problem is gonna burn cash i dont even have yet....so finishing the stereo is on back burner...but once i get my coupe back i will still be running my sony LX600 indash cd player and boston NX67 speakers in front and dual cone pioneer 6 1\2s in back with addon tweeters....unfortunatly i will also be replacing my alternator to so more money down the drain that i dont actually have but oh well ill deal somehow. later, kevin

If you can find a used one online, its a snap to install. If the 03's are the same as the 02's, just grap the a/c vents at the bottom and yank, then its just two bolts to unhook it.

I need to replace the head unit. I'm still running the original tape deck. I can only use the radio on it, since it plays tapes fast. Eventually it will be replaced with an MP3 player. Right now the cash is going towards suspension and exhaust replacement/upgrades and tires.
I did make the stereo more bearable. When I bought the car it had the factory speakers. Both the rears were blown so I adjusted the fade control so that more sound would come from the front speakers. Then I blew a front speaker when I popped in an Ozzy tape (No More Tears). Having no stereo is much worse than a barely working system, so I bit the bullet and replaced the speakers. I put in Boston CX6e 6-1/2" 2-way speakers in all 4 corners. I love those speakers, now I just wish I could play my CDs and MP3s on them. Chicago radio stations suck.

In my SL2, I installed a Blaupunkt MP3000 & Blaupunkt speakers in the front & rear.
The difference between the sound now and the original setup is amazing!

Pioneer somethingorother CD head unit. It's an older one. I got it for free, so I'm not complaining. Will be getting a Sony with LCD screen when I've got the $$. Pioneer Premier speakers in rear deck, Bolt Audio in the doors (woo, cheap from Wal-Mart...former Pioneers died..) The real pride of my stereo is the subs. 2 10" Blau subs, capable of 1000 watts each, currently running on a 400 watt Jensen amp in a custom box. They're LOUD.

The switch at the bottom is for the subs. The other two switches are for the interior neon lights and the hole is where the switch for the underbodies goes, but the switch broke and I haven't gotten around to getting a new one yet.

Sony CDX-MP30 Receiver, but stock speakers. The speakers do well, much better than the speakers in my 95 sc1. The speakers blew within weeks of installing the same head unit. At least in the VUE they seem to be holding up.

Still have the half-done stereo, but don't have the Saturn.
Pioneer DEH-2100
2 12' Alpine SWR-1240D subs running off an Eclipse 3640 amp. Everything is just sitting in the basement for now, the box I had was made for the Saturn specifically, and one day I will find another Saturn to put it all back into. (And upgrading some parts of course.)

I stared out with a Sony ES system, had the car delivered without radio in fact so I could have the Sony system installed.
Replaced the "upgrade" factory speakers right away, with an MB Quart componenet system in front and Boston coaxials in back.
Ultimately the Sony stuff let me down, so now I run Clarion Pro gear. Head unit and 12-disc changer. Amps are all Sony still, corners still MBQ and Boston.
Sub section used to be a tube, now it's two 10" JLAudio subs in a small sealed box.

Just curious, how did the Sony stuff let you down?

A Pioneer CD player from my high school days ... way back in the day ... it's probably about seven years old. ;) Still works perfectly (knocking on plastic now).
Speakers are MB Quarts up front, probably three years old. In the rear I have some used Rockford Fosgates that I picked up cheap from BillDeebs a few years ago.
No AMP's at all. Never got around to installing one.
It sounds good, doesn't weight a lot, and worked during all of One Lap. Believe me ... having a working radio at the end of the event is almost better then winning. Cars that go through all of One Lap without any problems, usually end up with a broken radio or something dumb like that. No clue why ... just how it is. :dizzy:

Alpine hu
4 infinity 6 1/2's (front and rear) powered by the hu (will get 2nd amp soon)

I was happy with the deck and infinity speakers for about a year but decided I wanted subs. Can't wait til the weekend.

Saturn's sound system in my car, when I got it, was like having a 10 watt desk top radio. Simple and plain, it sucked! I took out everything. Got a 180 watt x 4 JVC single CD player put in place, I than replaced all the speakers with Pioneer 120 watt 3-way speakers all around. Than put two 8" speakers in a box in the trunk running on a 250 watt amp. Big difference! Not something that can be heard blocks away, but anything more than that I put in the SL, the car would be rattleing. The car's too cheaply made to put in more than 10s running 600 watts. That would be extreme for an SL1. Mine is half that and when I boost it over 40 on the JVC, I start to feel the vibration of distortion. Though loud as hell, and I even had the panels padded, but the body is so weak that distortion will happen at high volume. At least for my car. Any feedback?

Yep, Pioneer DEH-P33 head unit, Pioneer 3 way 6.5 in the front and rear, 2 Pioneer IMPP 450 watt 12" subs powered by an Legacy American Series 1600 Watt amp, and to finish it of i have 2 Boss 1" tweets mounted right above the seatbelt. That was the first thing I did to my car when i got it but I've kinda grown out of it and grew into racing.
