I've noticed a few message boards have taken up on XHTML/WAP versions of their message boards. You can pull these up on a cell phone and participate in forums while you are away from your computer.

Or perhaps one first step would be to create a small SF news page that could be loaded on XHTML/WML browsers. Although WML requires some special work, XHTML (which everyone is moving to) is basically normal HTML with a very small screen size taken in account. There are a couple of new attributes here and there to assign names to softkeys, etc. but they arent too important.

Its funny you should mention this. I've been working on an XHTML version of the site that should be finished soon. Its not fancy; I'm just trying to learn something new. I thought it would be cool to give visitors another way to reach the site. I've also been working on an XML version of the site that could be displayed on Cisco 7940 and 7960 IP telephones. I'll post an announcement when they're ready. Time, I need more time! :)

It doesnt have to be fancy. Could even be a set of links! Right now SF looks mighty strange on my phone ;)

Oh, an another thing on my mobile wish list: ability to post to photo album via camera phone. ;)

Yeah WAP has pretty much failed. All of the new phones have standards compliant HTML 4.01 and XHTML 1.1 browsers that go through a proxy server to "make the page nicer looking" for cell phone browsers.

But, since I don't have a Hiptop, I'm not really concerned about it. I'll prolly just get Ricochet and pop that in my car for mobile high speed internet :P

...or maybe just a sprint phone. I'm paying $15/mo for unlimited data .... 1xRTT Release 0 on sprint does 144/144kbps. Release A, coming at the end of the year, is 302/144kbps.

Its enough to stream mp3's over the car stereo ... i tried ;)

ok I finally got it switched but it only has archives... however it is extremely up to date... I guess there is no way to post wirelessly?

I guess there is no way to post wirelessly?If you change to the "WAP / Pocket PC" skin, you should be able to post wirelessly. The "archive" skin is a third way to view the site (no new posting allowed in the archive section). There are still some bugs with the wireless skin that I'm working to correct, but as far as I know they are all cosmetic.
