Yeah I do. I've also noticed that saturns here at work park next to me, as well in other places too.

I'll park next to other Saturns, as long as the owner of the other one doesn't mind hiking to the building or whatever. I prefer to take up the remote spots.

I park as far away from any cars in a lot as possible. Want to keep the car in the best condition as long as I can, so I dont mind the walk. :)

As long as they also happen to be in the back of the lot I will, since that is the only place that I'll park. Polymer or not, I still don't want scratches on my paint , plus the exercise is good.

John10
05-26-2003, 05:07 PM
Yes but not for any emotional reasons. I just figure that polymer on polymer has less of a chance of scratching my car. More important though is staying away from big doored oversize pickups, already banged up vehicles and cars that look like they are driven by senior citizens.

I always thought it was funny that people will spend hours walking through a mall but drive around the parking lot for 15 minutes looking for a spot up front  ..... if I don't see a "good" spot on my first pass, I'll park next to a Saturn if I see one. Usually when I do park next to another Saturn, I'll come out to find another one parked next to us.

Yes. I also park far away from the entrances, but if I see a parked Saturn looking for someone to talk to, I park my QC next to it so they can speak Saturnese.

Then I tell them "nice car" if they are there.
Besides, it beats parking next to some hughmongous van or SUV that you can't see around.

Assuming that all Saturn owners care if they ding your car is a bit risky. Also you would have to park between two Saturns to make it worthwhile, and then who's to say those Saturns are going to be there when you get back. If you are really concerned about your car, you can't park it next to any other vehicle. It is rather sad that so many people are inconsiderate.

Driving home, the traffic is like a parking lot. So I count Saturns. One in thirty is about average. Mostly S’s. But this morning the gates of Saturn Heaven opened and it was one in eight. All the S’s were there but today there were L’s and even a Vue.

And yes, I always park next to a Saturn.

I do usually intentionally park next to other Saturns because I think it makes a statement to non-Saturn people that we Saturn owners are proud of what we have and that we stick together. :D It also annoys the daylights out of whomever I am with!!! I've been known to pass up a parking space right up front to park next to another Saturn, after all, it is a LAW! I am beyond caring about door dings, one time a lady in a Navigator slammed her door into my Saturn, thinking nobody was in the car (like it's OK to damage my car if I am NOT THERE), and I didn't even get a scratch, her door was dented and chipped (no joke!). Just today, when I took my mom to Stop & Shop, there were about 6 Saturns all parked near each other, and even though I had the Taurus, I had to park next to one of them (1991-94 SC2, 4-wheel discs, Blue-Green, NICE), hoping the owner would see the front license plate frame that says "Saturn of West Nyack." I have to get a sticker for the back that says "I love my Saturn" and a SaturnFans plate frame!! :D :p

I had a 1978 Camaro. About six of US would park next to each other at a diaganol in the rear of a lot nowhere near nobody at College. A cop gave us tickets. They were busting stones regarding a contact so took it out on us. On person had the exact color as mine. He said he could alaways tell mine as it was cleaner

Intentionally Park, Yes! But usually at the back of the lot if there are Saturns parked already.

I don't bother to find spot near entrance anyway, the traffic crowd is much higher and my L's rear quarter steel panel is too vulunerable.

I not only park next to other Saturns, I face the same way and line up even and parallel.
Three weeks ago, I completed a line-up of 5 Saturns in a mall parking lot, virtually one of each type. Sure wish I'd had my camera!

I usually park where ever there is a good spot...but most of the time around teh county which i live in i find it quite odd that the majority of the time i do find myself parking next to other saturns.

It is always a plus in my book because i have that sensible notion that they wont open their car door and slam it into mine and what not.

If im really looking for a safe spot I find the two nicest cars and park in between them. If I'm going somwhere that the car will be left unattended for a while I figure if it's something like Vette saturn BMW Lexus if a car is going to be stolen it's not mine. Find a DSM with a turbo around here and park next to it your definetly safe from thieves.

I make a point of because Saturn people generally take more care of their cars despite the dent resistent panels. I made the mistake of taking the only spot left the other day beside an old person Intrepid. Sure enough, they took a chunk out of my paint, no dent of course.

Man was I peeved. I didn't say anything though because I out weighed them both put together and they were very apologetic and it was unintentional, the wind caught the door.

Plus the less my insurance company knows the better. They are just waiting for something to happen so they can gouge even more cash out of me.

I figured I'd let it slide and do the paint work myself.

I have no objections to parking next to another Saturn, or any other kind of car regardless of color, country of origin, faith professed or the number of bumper stickers I should read. As long as the other Saturn is parked away from the madding crowd, that's where you'll usually find me.

I prefer to park beside a Saturn but any clean well cared for car will do in a pinch. I think with this latest Saturn TV Commercial, people are purposely going to ram it with anything they can, just to test the dent resistant panels. I think the add paints a bullseye on all of us Saturn Owners..

This is how part of the Saturn Family stays together in an odd way. When I see another Saturn, especially an ION or VUE or L, I will park next to it. I observed that the newer Saturns I see will park out in the north fortys and hike to the store or whatever. Guess us Saturn Owners treat our rides like the finest of vehicles like Lexus and Beamer!! At my nearby Safeway store, there is an employee owned ION, and I look for it and park next to it during my shopping there. I drive an '05 ION.

I was driving to a Summertime blue's music concert on the HWY 101 South in Marin County and caught up to an ION and a VUE on the HWY. We were all in seperate lanes on the four lane HWY. It looked like we all knew eachother and were out looking for trouble. We were the 'Saturn Gang.' We all drove side by side for quite a few miles

Saturn owners stay together in a very strange way and we all have a strong bond. I have driven 10 Saturns: ION's, VUE's, and the Red Lines, and an L200. All these cars kicked butt. Guess the Saturn bug has bit me!

At work I park way out in the south 40, about 8 empty rows away from all the other cars, next to the guy who sits in the next cube over, who drives (and babies) his BMW. We park a couple spots away from each other in a secluded spot to avoid eveyone else, tree droppings, birds, and traffic. I tried to park next to the other Vue owner in my building but she's kinda wierd and parks all over the place. I think she just drives her Vue for transportation, as it's got a *sheet* over the back seat, and there are always dog slobber marks all over the glass on the rear windows (either that or she has really wild grandchildren).

When I'm out shopping, I will tend to park next to a Saturn if at all possible, even if it means walking a long way in. I think the most I've seen congregating in one spot is 4 at any given time.

Oh, and there's the SL2 in the driveway, but that doesn't count, as I'm usually home before she is. :D

I don't usually get the chance to, I live in a small town, so there are a limited # of Saturns, and I know the owners of most of them by name. At least we all recognize each other, and respect the "bond" we have. Occasionally though, I do, when I'm visiting my family. I had the first Saturn in my family, my '91, which I still drive. I talked my stepdad into a 2001 SL2, and my younger brother just sold his FIREBIRD to get a 1997 SL1(needed the gas mileage, I think). It's why I bought mine and ditched my old Chevy C-10. I loved that truck. So I'm influencing my family with my positive experiences with my Saturn. I think I'm rubbing off on them!!!! They still give me crap, but they respect the fact that my '91 could stomp anything in their driveway, except the Nissan Murano my dad has, and my mom's Lincoln Continental Mark VII. Which when added to my sister's 98 beetle, are the only 3 NON GM cars in either of my parents driveways. (They have 7 vehicles between the two families.)

Yes, I admit I do, even try to stay in the same lane as other Saturns.

Sometimes it happens out of coincidence. I play in a band and when we had our practice at a rehearsal studio, there was my pac blue '05 ION, my bass player's '94 dark blue SL2 and someone else's '05 storm grey ION. I said, "Hey! It's a Saturn retailler!"

I was surprised though that over 2/3s of us have the same thing on our minds.
That obviously explains it when I discover another Saturn next to mine.

No. It's just a Saturn. When I was racing Mk1 water-cooled VWs, and when I was rebuilding and racing Merkurs, and when I went through my Saab-phase I tried to catch the eye of other owners. To me, there's nothing really fraternal about Saturns, and they don't really justify the obsessive behavior that other marques might. My Miata is different, but a Saturn is just a Saturn.

haha, I've done that a lot. i've never tried to get into one though, but I did, however, witness an older lady with a tan 94 or so S series come out of a store and there was another one just like hers parked next to it, and she got into the wrong car (it was unlocked) and tried to start it..

She got out and laughed... then took off. It was kinda funny. I was about 2 parking spots away in my saturn :)
