Depends on what they are eating. drinks ususally are an issue as long as they are covered.

Yes, I'm not picky anymore. With 102k miles on my 2000 SL1 and having to work 70+ hrs a week I don't have much time to keep it nice looking. It has that well used look.

I shouldn't have. I got some mysterious substance on my carpet just under the front passenger seat. What should I use to clean it with? When I found it, it was already dry. ugh!

I'll let passengers eat & drink but, if they make a mess, they lose their privilege.

Covered-Drink is OK, but eating....depends on what they're messing with. Most food is banned under my supervision except Candy. :D

Most things are okay, except something really greasy or messy. Its only a Saturn, if it was a Porsche then there would be a no eat no drink rule:x

I like that!
Just greasy buffalo wings, p & J sammiches, cheap liquor, & cheese cake.
Heck no! (But do you think the wife would listen?)

Snacks, drink and stuff are OK as long as they are not slobs.

kinda funny cause on April Fools day my friend and I parked my Saturn in the Taco Bell that he was a manager at, we opened the double doors on the side of the building, drove up the ramp, removed the corrals, and trash cans and parked my car their. Then waited for the other manager to show up a few hours later. It was so funny, since my friend was the son of the owner, we sat in the parking lot and watched as the morning people all got their and just stared at this saturn parked in the lobby. Ahhh so much fun.
Anyway so it wasnt driven in the kitchen, but it was pretty close.
Still no one eats in my car, drinks are ok as long as they have lids.

It depends on what it was and where we were going if it was a long trip i may have allowed food that wouldnt stink up my car and drinks that wouldnt stain it like sprite or 7up

I remember the first trip I took with people other then just myself in my L300. I told them they COULD drink coffee only if they kept the lids on. (Hey, I know it's mean...but the car was like 2 mos old)
Sure enough, my jack ass best friend decides to sit in the back with another girl and spills coffee all over the back seat.
Good thing is, leather forgives if you wipe it. If it was cloth. I could have killed him.

Water or a clear diet soda is allowed. I suppose I would allow non crumbly foods like candy bars too.

Adults only. Kids are restricted to only water on the blue moon that there actually is one in the car.

Yes. I could care less. My car is 10 years old, and the interior is falling to pieces.

Absolutely not... bottled water is okay, but that is it. When I go to a drive thru, the bags get put in the cargo net or cargo carrier ASAP... I also febreeze religiously, and place a new Yankee Candle Shops "Car Jar" in about weekly.

There isn't room for any other people in my Saturn.. Only one seat! hahaha..
When there were other seats, no one was allowed to eat, drink, or smoke in my car. No muddy shoes and I tried my best to always change work shoes.. The carpet still got a little dirty from the days I used to drive to work in it, but the seats stayed really nice. Heck, my kids weren't even allowed to bring more than one toy a piece and the toy HAD to stay on their laps or in the car seat when they had one. Speaking of car seats, I put towels under them to prevent sink lines from forming in the seats. I was obsessed, but it paid off.
Speaking of which.....:)

yeah, i'm not too picky. i also scotchguarded the seats. kids have spilled cool aid twice, and it wiped right up not one little stain left. i would absolutely reccomend scotchguard:yes:

I don't care if it is "just a Saturn", it's my car!! Actually, what kind of irks me is my girlfriend's lint. In the winter she wears her Navy P-coat. Unfortunately, she also has cats. Essentially, the hair goes from the cats to her coat to my black upholstery.

I made the rule when I first got the car that nobody eats in it EVER. Of course, as I've said, nobody listens to me. Now, after MANY screaming matches with my family, we came to a compromise; it has to be embedded into their heads that only covered drinks or candy bars, stuff like that, are allowed while the car is moving. However, when the car is stopped, eating anything is OK as long as whoever is eating it cleans up any crumbs or any other shmutz that may get on the seats/carpet.
Like Nuke-Em's girlfriend, my family has 2 LARGE, beige and white dogs that shed A LOT (yellow lab, and dalmatian, certainly not cats but still cute animals that like to leave their hair everywhere; well actually, the yellow lab sometimes acts like a cat, it's really funny). The beige fur isn't a pain in the Saturn, because the seats are, well, beige, but the dalmatian's hair is very pointy, gets everywhere, and is a royal pain to get rid of. Both types of hair are a pain in the Taurus because it has blue mouse fur cloth interior, so any dog hair just sort of clings to it and doesn't move. That car is the "familymobile" *as Piney put it* and it really doesn't matter who eats or drinks what in that car. Yet, surprisingly, it stays pretty clean. Both of my parents smoke (Oh man do I hate it) and I make every effort I can each weekend to rid both cars of the cigarette smell. It's pretty much gone in the Saturn because I spray that one with AutoFebreze like every ten minutes and always have a Scooby-Doo Air Freshener on hand. The Taurus is a lot harder to take care of in that aspect because both my parents use that car and smoke in it, every day.
I'm sorry, but I do not buy that "So what, it's just a Saturn" crap. My Saturn is kind of like my second home, and I don't particularly enjoy living like a slob, so I keep my car, exterior and interior, as clean as possible, at all times.

I don't have that problem... if you decide not to obey the rules in my car, you find your own way home.. and I do mean that. Mom tried to light up a cigarette in my Beretta, and her pack went out the window. Last week my friend turned 21.. and we all had some "fun" that night.. and since I had an SUV, it was up to me to cart the liquor from the store to her townhouse..along the way her jackass friend cracks open a beer in my VUE and I about died.. besides being a drink in the VUE it was an open container... lets just say after he became beligerant, he got to walk about 1/2 mile to her place, beer in hand.

Usually have a pop in the car (bottled is preferred) for me or hubby. Only bottled drinks that stay IN the holders for our kid. No candy or food allowed in the car by ANYONE (unless it's drive-thru to be eaten at home). :p
I don't mind if people eat or drink. BUT if somebodies big mac farts special sauce all over my seat, they will be handed some interior cleaner and go to work. Other then that I don't care,as long as they don't make a mess.

Yeah, it wipes up easily from the leather. Besides, I do it.
Kids are not an issue, cause there are none in the family, and I don't let the dogs in the car (nails + leather = rips).

Question?
I was once told it was illegal to eat and drive and some states or cities. Is this true? I have to admit its a challenge to eat a bean burrito driving 65 miles per hour down the freeway.
What is the most unusually thing have you eating while you were driving? I tried eating a frosty with a spoon - not a big thing to do. The girl I dated who didn't know how to use the crank windows in my first Saturn managed to eat chinese food on a regular basis while driving. I still wonder how she manage to accomplish that one.

Yes
People can eat in my Saturn
But if they make a mess I take them far into the woods throw them out & leave them for dead
After doing this a couple of times
Word get around & people quit asking to eat in the car

Well i used to, but then some punk spilt soda down my entire door. Sheesh it took forever to clean that junk off. had to take out the door cup and hand clean it. so the only one who eats/drinks is me.

nope. IMO it doesnt matter if its a saturn or a mercedes, cars are for riding in, not eating in. except for the BMW 745i which has a built-in refrigerator behind the rear seat, but thats a different story :p especially no drinks, after i spilt a full medium cup of pepsi in my dad's brand new $31,000 trailblazer. wanna hear a man yell? LOL :D i can see if its an older car, but not a new one :p

Covered drinks and bottled liquids are ok, but I won't let hamburgers, tacos, or any other type of messy foods anywhere near my car.
Several years ago, in my (then) brand new LS2, 3 of my friends and I went to Burger King.
Guess what? Ketchup and barbeque sauce really does stain tan leather! I also ended up picking out dried pickles from between the seats and odd areas for months!
My new L300 has black leather and I make sure that NO ONE eats in the car.

No cigarette smoking allowed - period.
I drink water or Diet Mountain Dew (diet drinks aren't sticky if you spill them - it's the sugar in regular soda that makes it sticky.)
No messy foods while the car is moving (tough on me, 'cause I like Taco Bell), and nothing that requires a fork or spoon to eat. My system works - no stains on my previous tan cloth interior, and none now with gray cloth.
All violators are pushed under the car while it's moving (please don't tell the authorities - I maintain it's a public service to remove these clods from the gene pool.)

No kethcup or other sauces. That's my rule. (I never said I followed it .. thus why I have taco sauce, pizza sauce and various other unknown sauces all over the interior of both my cars.) If they leave so much as a single wrapper in my car, they get to clean the whole thing out - and considering it's usually trashed until it's twice yearly clean-out, that's very large task, indeed!
Pop is fine, as well as pretty much any food, but if you spill it, you lick it up! (I have enforced this rule before! Quite entertaining to watch someone lick Mt Dew off of a car seat.)

I'm all about the no-food-smell thing. Whenever I go get pizza I do it with all the windows open so I don't have that lingering pizza smell in my saturn the next day =)

Depends on the person. I have quite a few friends who have lost their eating in car priveleges and even one friend who lost her riding in my car while drunk priveleges after she coated the door of my Isuzu Rodeo with gold vomit from drinking Goldschlager all night.

eat, sleep ,drink sit on whatever Unless I just washed the car I really don't mind. Try and touch the outside of the car right after I wax it and i might get a tad annoyed but have a seat inside and munch away. Most of my friends are car freaks so I trust em not to make a mess.

THAT is a definate cardinal rule. I don't even want you in my car right after you smoked. I don't know who said it earlier but yeah I hate getting into the car and smelling the pizza I just picked up so the windows stay down till the smell goes away.
