I'm curious what you think is the best suspension setup for autocrossing and or roadracing. Progress coilovers won't be available for another 10-12 weeks; at least. I can't wait. If you can, please include any extra information regarding tire/rim sizing and types. Next SOLO2 race is March24. Would like to have suspension by then. Can anyone make it? It's in Tucson at Southwest International Raceway's parking lot. The layouts are long and you get 4 runs for 20bucks plus for ten more bucks you can get 4 more time-only runs. Depending on the layout the course takes 60-90seconds to blast through. Lots of fun. You can pre-register SCCA.ORG --->regional locator---> Arizona Boarder Region---> preregister. Would be great to see another saturn out there. Haven't seen a single saturn there, besides mine, in the last 8 events (ever); with 60-120 cars per event. OVER-AND-OUT -Tom 98sl2

I will be trying out SCCA this summer for the first time too. I just found out about it at the world of wheels auto show last weekend here in KC. I thought you had to have a roll cage and everything, but all you need is helmet and a stock Saturn to race for $20. My dad and I going to represent Saturn as well as Dan Iatt. Talk about a cheap easy way to race. Modified Saturns can race too for $20 in a different class.
Thanks,
Dayle

Your suspension set up is driven by your class. If you are running in a stock class, then your only options are shocks at stock ride height (no coilovers), alignment settings and wheels with a minor change in offset. If you are running an SL or SL1, you could change to the larger SL2 front anti-roll bar, but could not add a rear bar. On the SL2, you could not change the rear anti-roll bar.

As you get into other classes, you have more latitude in what is allowed. Best bet, check your Solo II rulebook and maybe talk with the the local Solo Board Tech and Protest Chairs for help in rule interpretation.

look on the car info section on www.teamscr.com and just copy their ita sc setup. sps www.spswebpage.com sells the bits you'd need. of course you will be in the street prepared category or street touring if you change the springs, rear sway bar, or add a strut tower brace.

Oh yeah one more thing. Never ever refer to Solo II or autocrossing as "racing".
