Only costs me an extra $25 for vanity plates per year.
I think it's $250 or something a year for my plates.

Yes - I have a 9/11 Memorial tag with a personalized thing on it.
http://pic1.picturetrail.com/VOL112/495624/1014102/20323644.jpg
The personalized thing is an anacronym for a program that I've been to for folks that do what I do and only folks similarly minded would get it, but I like it. :)

Nope, too many vehicles and trailers to register. My overall cost is too high to start adding vanities again. I removed the "animal friendly" plates from my truck in favour of farm plates, and never transferred the other set from the Samurai to any of the other vehicles when I sold it.
Currently, only the 59 Mercedes has anything close to a custom plate - a 1959 issue standard plate being used through Texas YOM allowances.
No, just standard California plates.

Piney, nice memorial plate. I'm still waiting for the September 11th memorial license plate design that was bandied about after the tragic attacks, but to this day hasn't come to pass :ugh:

I guess you could consider my plates personalized. I'm an amatuer radio operator and have my call sigh on it. It's a regular CO place with "SCL" vertically on the left side (not sure what the "S" stands for) and my call letters "kc0moc". All in uppercase with a slash through the 0. Most states have call letter tags. They've also got commercial call letter plates here....the only difference is instead of "SCL" they say "CCL". Here's a link to the DMV's site with all 87 different plates you can get. http://www.mv.state.co.us/titlereg/registration/plates/index.html
Oh, and I only pay $2 a year for the plates. Normal personalized plate the charge is $35 at application, and $25 every year after that. I think the most expensive passenger plate is the paeronalized designer plate at $60 at application and $50 each year after that.

Yes I do. I thought of something different to put on my license plate because I figured Satty, Saturn, Saturn1, Strn Racr, so on and so forth would already be taken.
There is a country song (as well as a TV show) called "Third Rock from the Sun".
Well, you can't fit all of that onto a license plate, in Saturn format. So I had 6THRFTS put on my personal plate.
It stands for Sixth Rock From The Sun.
And for all of you smarty pants college kids, YES I know Saturn is NOT really a rock, but I don't care. The plate is catchy, quirky, and a great conversation piece.. :D

My nickname's always been Byrd. My dad called me his Little One, and my uncle called me Little Fart. So I combined the two and got LITLBYRD. (Yes, that's my hot orange coupe in FireMate's photo gallery)
The cost was $212 for the plates upfront and it doesn't cost anything extra for my yearly fee.

My brother tried getting six6six, but was denied for religous reasons. He got the registration in the mail, paid for it, but then got a letter saying the request was denied because people and religous clergy would be offended. hehe
I'm more offended by the old homeless man that flashes me his wrinkled erectile disfunction on the train everyday than a license plate could. :D
Let me know if you actually get them, since one other person didn't have a problem getting them........

I think that's just silly. If I was your brother, I would have told the DMV -I- was offended for religious reasons. I would either say that it infringes on my rights to religious freedom and illegal for them to basically shove someone else's religion down my throat (I mean they let the KKK burn crosses for crying out loud! Which offends a LOT of people) or if you were brave enough, say that was your religion and it's unfair and unlawful to not be allowed to display your fondness or proud feelings for your religion.. See what they say about that.. DOOOODE! Scary!
I really dislike the censorship of license plates. Heck, you're paying for them, right? I know I pay 75-95 a year for them and they bloody well will say what I want them to say!
Just because someone else doesn't like it shouldn't mean you can't have it.. It doesn't physically harm anyone. All a personal plate is, says it all in the name they call it. A VANITY plate. It's just for personal/vanity reasons.. Bah humbug..
Anyway, here's a link to a pic of my vanity plate AND a nice purge from, what else, the purge line.. hehehe

I don't have a personalized plate (thanks mom), but I wanted it HITBY1 since I got hit by a '95 SL2 in may of '02. I got my head busted (not the skull) and left leg broken in 3 places. Made a nice head-shaped dent in windshiled and took passenger mirror off. Then in Oct. 02 I had my driver's permit (got my license 1-2-03) and I was driving my mom on errands, and there were several ducks sitting in the road. Both lanes on my side, actually. Mom told me to stop, so I did. The person behind us switched lanes, and slammed the brakes since she didn't see any dumb birds. Then a collge chick in a 93 SC1 rear ends me just a second after I hear screeching and see her car in the rearview. Well, make that HITBY2. Then my mom said that it'd make me look accident prone.
I saw WYAIFG on a Corvette once (actually in the corvette museum in Bowling Green, KY). Wrap Your Ass In Fiber Glass
My ideas... (figure them out yourself)
KISSIT, 8AHONDA, 8AIMPRT, 8ATEGRA, VTECSUX, WANTLS1, BTHONDA, BTIMPRT, MYCAR, NOTYURS, HIS (his satty) and HERS (her satty), NOSS
FYI: LS1 refers to an engine. Think rabies-infested wolf on steroids in sheep's clothing. NOSS= No Stupid ****** (Laughing gas is Nitrous Oxide, n20, and "the bottle"; not some ricer movie inspired name.)

The sad thing is if you do complain at the DMV where I live, unfortunately you'll get a person who doesn't speak english and has a worse attitude than that weakest link she-male.
I think they put those people on the job to discourage you from driving OR even getting plates. Less work for them.
To my surprise though, I saw a New York plate that said
fcuk you.
Ummmmm.........what's wrong with six6six again??

What in the world does "six6six" have to do with religion? I am really curious to know the answer.
We had a situation in Ontario a few years ago where the government recalled the license plate of a World War II veteran who was a Japanese prisoner of war. I don't recall the final outcome if the man was allowed to keep his plates. His plates read "JAP POW".
Some bureaucrat thought people would be offended. As far as I am concerned if it were not for people such as our veterans, we would not be here today. I have no patience for such bureaucracy when it comes to treating our veterans so poorly.
This former P.O.W. should be able to keep the plate until he dies after what he went through for our nation.
I wish I could remember the outcome of this decision.
I do not agree with political correctness.

Owned an Audi 5000S for a few years while we were in Iowa. License plate they issued to us said "666 EPT". Told the DMV we thought they were offensive (bad omen I guess), and they said we would have to pay to change them (the cost of the original plates!). So we kept them.

It time that religious groups stopped playing a roll in society outside of their own church. Let's keep religion where it belongs and that is inside the church.
We have a public education system that should be publicly funded. If special interest and religious groups want to have their own education system, let them pay for it. Our public education system should not have to suffer.
I cannot understand why people go and donate money to a church every week. It's like a cult fleezing everybody's pockets.
Sure, it's a free society and people can choose to donate money wherever they want. To me religion is a business.:p

Yes, I have a Personal Plate on my 1994 SC1. It is the same plate that I have had on the car since I got my car 7 years ago.
My personal plate says:
2NDSOUT
Seconds Out was the live album that the music group Genesis recorded in 1977. It was also the 1st live album that the group recorded that had Phil Collins on lead vocals...I'm a big Genesis and Phil Collins fan and I thought this would be the coolest way to pay homage to my favorite band. And yes, I do go back to the beginning of Genesis when Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett were with them, the early music of Genesis is some of the best progressive rock music ever recorded right up there with groups like King Crimson, Yes, ELP, Jethro Tull...I think you could even put early Rush into the Progressive Rock Category too. I have had maybe a handfull of people ask me what it means over the years.
Here are some of the other plates that I had considered...
These all have Genesis references to them as well...
LURKER (1981 Song from the ABACAB album)
FOXTROT (Title of the 1972 Album)
The other one that I considered but didn't use either was the first screen name that I have had when I got online....
HOP2IT (Hop to It....don't ask me where it came from, it just came to mind when I was getting online for the first time)
Anyway, I dont mind paying the money its about $75 a year in Ohio, but I also have the cheapest plates that they have available. I think they go up to $150 per year here.

No vanity plate here!
NYS gets enough revenue from its taxes, we weren't going to give the Welfare State any more of our money!
Now that I'm in Ohio, I may get one IF I ever switch my plates over, which I'm in no hurry to do, (the car is still under my parents' name). The only reason I would is that the new "Sunrise" plates are so friggin ugly! Ohio does change their design fairly often, so maybe they'll have something that looks nicer by the time I change over! NY had the "Liberty" plates forever!

My license plate is pretty much a leftover from Dad - TB-38.
TB because, if you remove the middle initial, is the abbreviation for Dad's name.
38 because, I don't know, he got the plate when he was 38?
Well I guess I am too late for the poll, but yes I do have a personalized plate (sort of).
I am a Amateur Radio operator (or Ham) with ARES (Amateur radio Emergency Services).
As a Ham I get a personalized plate with my ham callsign for a flat fee of $18 and no additional annual fees.
To transfer the plate is $12, so I transferred it when I traded in my last vehicle.
Now this is not really a freeby. The plate serves a purpose. When a federal, state, county or city official sees the plate, they know it is owned by a ham and in an emergency that ham can be called upon to perform communication functions. So it is really for the benefit of the law enforcement and fire departments.

I too have my callsign plates. Is it just me, or does it seem like a lot of hams drive Saturns?
BTW - I found the Ion to be very radio friendly. Battery in trunk - what more could I ask for.

YUP, can't wait. Will have one with my name on it as soon I have the actual plate (instead of the temporary tag) so I can buy a personalized one online and get it in the mail 3 to 4 weeks after that. :)

Me too. I've got callsign plates from several states (RI, MA, CA, VA, all with my old WA1SPT call).
Luckily there's enough metal in the horizontal surfaces to make good ground planes - polymer isn't going to help there.

California Plate, "VUE2SEE". Just waiting for the registration tags for the new VUE we picked up last Saturday. I had the plates on our old 2002 VUE..

Had this plate on my 93 SW2, but it reads much better on the 05 VUE.

Will post a picture when I figure out how.
FWIW - no one ever figured out what the plate meant. Most people did not even know what it meant after I explained it.

I was FL ION BY until thus June when I opted to not give the state of Ohio the extra dollars to mispend on missing coin collections. (Those of you in Ohio will know about this). For the time being I am just another plate, but will come up with something again in the future.

Back when I first applied in PA for ZUUL, they called me and asked me what ZUUL meant. They were worried it was some swear word in another language.
:)
I already had it in Virginia a couple of years before that when I was in the Air Force.

I used have one on my '97 SL1, but it got expensive. I am, however, considering vanity plates for my '01 SL2.

Although I don't have a personalized plate on my '01 SL2, I do have one on my '04 Pontiac Vibe GT. It's the newest plate for Arizona, having been approved by the governor in May. My is dedicated to my loving cat who died in a tragic household accident back in March.
