What kind of Saturn do you currently drive? If there's more than one Saturn in your family, which Saturn do you drive most regularly?

I love my 2000 LS2. I've been lucky not to have as many issues as other people on this board in regards to the 2000 L's

I am leasing an S-10 pickup, and with my driving habits, I was putting to many miles on it. I bought my '93 SC2 almost a year ago just to have a beater to eat up the local miles (and to have a car that needed more than routine maintenance). Since then I've changed my habits, and don't really need the SC2 anymore, but it's paid for and fun to drive.

Thanks to Lane's Saturn Car Audio & Performance Page (http://www57.pair.com/lane/index.html), I started visiting saturnfans.com last month, and now I'm toying with the idea of putting some mods on the SC2. The only thing stopping me right now is the pocket book.

Have fun Saturning! (That word sounds stupid, I'll have to think of something better)

Ion-3 since Saturday (3 days now) and already have passed the break in period and "opened it up" just once. Did you know that the fuel shuts off *before* you even get to redline? :(

Right now I've got a 1999 SC2. And maybe a ION 3 sedan or QC in the future,or a VUE, haven't totally decided...and I don't really need to as the SC2 is just fine for now.:D

Look at all the S-Series. SL1 right here, nearly three years now. Not sure whether to keep it for years to come or upgrade in a couple years. Either way I'll buy another Saturn, something about a cult...

Happy St. Patrick's Day! :grnjump:

See the signature line as it tells all. I drive the company SL2 and she drives the 1997 (the one with the comfy seats).

Possibly a LW200 or LW300 in the future, but the current 1997 is paid for and I see no reason to get rid of it just because it is older. Being garage kept and spotless, I'd just cry to take a beating on it at trade or sale.

1993 grey and silver SL2 5-speed with 131,000 miles.

1996 purple SC2 5-speed with 148,500 miles.

2003 medium blue L200 automatic with 0 miles - maybe (will know by the end of the month).

I have a 1996 SL1, in gold. My family bought it used from a Chrysler dealership in October of 1998 with 40,000 miles on it. Since then we've put about 60,700 miles on it, mostly me. I did have the issue with the recalled head gasket, which was an absolute nightmare thanks to my brother in law (the car would accelerate on its own, while I had my foot on the brake pedal, went through 4 sets of pads/rotors in 5 months). He couldn't figure out what was wrong with it; I would drive for about 5 minutes, then suddenly the "Service Engine Soon" light would come on, and the car would lurch forward on its own, and I'd have to stomp on the brake to keep it stopped. If I put it in neutral, it would stall before I could rev it a little, with my left foot on the brake. This was not particularly enjoyable during bumper to bumper rush hour traffic. For 5 months I went through this crap because my brother in law did not think it was the head gasket until he took the engine apart, positively brilliant, I swear. In March of last year, he disconnected the coolant gauge, thinking this would help. Uh huh, right. The sensor or something couldn't tell when the car was hot, so the cooling fan would not come on. Because of this, the car overheated in Manhattan, after I had made a wrong turn and ended up at the base of the Lincoln Tunnel. Sorry for the rant there, once I get started I can't stop. I will admit that my Saturn has given my family and I some trouble, but I would never buy a different marque. There are just so many great things about the car that outweigh the problems (with mine, that is). Now, the car seems to be doing good (knock on wood), I hit a 100,000 miles and the radiator cracked, but that wasn't really a big deal. Overall, I am very happy to be a Saturn owner, and I do love my car, a lot. I guess it's like a problematic kid, it's a pain in the butt sometimes but you love it unconditionally anyway!

Own both an S-Series and a VUE, the VUE has become the primary "commuter car" because it is newer, and safer. However with the way fuel prices are going, that may change real soon.

With gas price soaring, I tend to let my L300 on vacation and go stick with my faithful SL 5-speed.

Bought my '96 SL2 brand new on Nov. 30th 1995. I could hardly wait for that car. I have loved every minute I spent in that car. With the exception of when I blew up the engine.. :o:
I had owned a 1996 SC2, gold, with black cloth interior, for about a year before I bought the minivan to tow with. That was a sweet ride that I miss every now and again. It had a sunroof. First car I ever owned with a Sunroof.. Wow..
Now my SL2 sits in the garage until warm weather and racing season arrives. I am toying with the idea of slapping the rear seats in again, getting a couple of front tires, and driving her on the street a few times a month.. Just for mileage. The chassis has just about 55,000 on her right now. Low mileage. :)

Come on you VUE guys and gals!!

How can there be more ION's than VUEs while VUE sales have a year's worth of head start and won the Motorweek's Drivers' Choice Award? Let's outvote the rest!!

Ok, when I last checked the poll, 55% of us drive S-series Saturns. Even though the S is now defunct, it should be listed as a model in the forums.

Even the French would agree with that!

Just my 2 cents....

"S" cars rule!

David 93 SL2m
03-19-2003, 09:25 PM
Sure, S-Series were sold from 1990 to 2002 (12 years) while L-Series have been selling since 2000 (3 years), VUEs since 2002 (1 year), and ION since 2003 (a few months). I don't know how many of each model have been sold so far but these results should not be surprising...

I've had a92 SL2 5speed, a 95 SL1 automatic,a 97SL2 automatic, a 2000 LW1 and most recently a 2002 LW300. The v6 is the most fun but I kind of miss driving 5speed. Tried to teach my wife how to drive manual while we were dating, it turned out better to stop trying to teach her and still get married if you get my drift!

I've driven all of them!
Owned a 96 SL2 until Nov. of 2002. Loved that baby! Still get a little misty eyed when I see the the headlights of a green SL2.

When I want to drive a L with some punch I "borrow" the folks L300 to put it through its paces.

Now me and my VUE are becoming great buds.

I test drove a Silver Blue Ion. Now that's a car that's fun to drive...but alas the Vue stole my heart!

I have a georgeous 2002 orange SC2, with black logos, tint, sunroof, and black leather interior. It's been nicknamed The Halloween Car, especially seeing that I got it November 1, 2001.

Before this I had a '93 SL1 in teal green.

I have a 2003 VUE 4 cyl with Vti transmission. The car not only gets looks ,but I have caught people saying they loved the looks of the car .Statements like !its the new Saturn! or !I love it !are not uncommon.Even though consumers rated that ugly Sante Fe higher and car and driver is still bashing Saturn vehicles it seems the public could car less as sales are up for Ion and VUE im told. It rides great and is fantastic on gas. While my neighbor is pumping $30.00 a tank at 14 MPG on his jeep im getting near 30MPG on the highway.Maybe im nuts but at 20 grand to the near 40 grand the jeep cost i think I got the better deal.

Two L cars:

2000 LS2 and a L100 Special Edition.

I used to have a 1996 SL1, which was not a perfect car (head gasket fixed under recall, various sensors went south and the kicker was the tranny - yup the original automatic tranny failed and had to put a rebuilt one in there). So while the car was not without its problems, I still could not see having anything other than a Saturn. I moved to the L-series, both of which have been great. Really no problems to speak of with either the 2000 of the 2002.

I drive an SW series. I just returned from a week of holiday with 4 teenagers and two large dogs - you can't do that in an Ion. Sadly, there is no prize category for the forgotten wagon when we travel to the Saturn events that frequently honour the time, effort and design of modifications to the most versatile Saturn on the road.

I have a 98 SL2. Its grey or silver (not sure). It's my favorite car out of all the ones I've ever owned. I bought it at 40K miles in 2002 and it just rolled over 100,000 this summer (around the july 4th holiday) I'ts very dependable and has never messed up other than for maintenance... and I'm looking forward to another 100K from it! :)
