There used to be a free service that provided spell check support for web forums. They have since discontinued their free support, and I cannot afford to subscribe to their fee-based service. I am still looking for alternatives. When I find one that will meet the needs of this forum, I will install it.

I miss the spell check too. :(

One idea for spell checking your post is to compose it on your Word or related word processing program and then paste into this forum.

The Word idea is good until Charlie can find a solution.

I have my own spell check. I proof read everything I type. Then I proof read it again after I post my reply. If necessary I edit my mistakes. Sometimes I miss something and make a mistake. It appears no matter how often I proof read something, I can still make a mistake.

To error is human! Some people are just more human than others.

A spell check will not fix grammar errors. I have often made a simple mistake such as spelling the word "too" when I really wanted the word "to". Naturally the spell check will not catch it.

I am a product of a public education system. Although the teachers are excellent, the public educaton system requires more funding.

Did I make any mistakes?

As I was saying,

To err is human, some people are just more human than others.

It's amazing how sometimes no matter how much we proof read what we type, we can still make errors.:D

Did I make any mistakes? Okay, you asked! Here is what I found after reviewing your spelling and grammar (but not word choice as that might differ from one part of the country to another).

Maybe you can just hire david to proofread everything you write.

Being that half of what I type on this board is done late at night, I'm surprised that 3rd graders aren't making fun of me.

The new SaturnFans "Huked on Foniks" coming soon!

I know what you mean... I helped my wife through her undergrad and masters degree work doing proofreading and editing. I reached my limit of "psycho-babble" more than a few times.

I read quite a few papers and some books - it is incredible in the social sciences how papers are written to use as many big words as possible to communicate simple concepts. It's almost as if there is some unwritten rule that you have to use as many words as possible. More than a few times I was able to take a 100 word paragraph and state precisely the same thing in less than 20 words. It's like there are severe penalties for writing in a simple and direct way.

As a writer, I could never make a living getting paid by the word. I use too few.

I do get tired of talking to people that have to chime in with "know what I'm sayin'" or "It's like this...." in every sentence they use.
