View Full Version : Strange DTC's

I have an '03 VUE FWD 2.2L with few options (it was the sport package or soemthing along those lines). It now has 137K miles on it. The SES light has been coming on lately, but it's giving me nonsense codes when I pull them. For instance, park position indicator faults, and automatic transmission solenoid faults. Did I mention it's a manual?

I took it to one Saturn dealership, and they immediately jumped to the conclusion that I need a new ECM. They told me they couldn't even communicate with the ECM with their Tech2, and were surprised the car was running at all.

In case it has any bearing, I had to replace the BCM when I was in Germany, and had to have an Opel dealership flash it. They didn't exactly have an easy time doing so, and I'm afraid they screwed up more than they fixed.

So, does my problem ring any bells for anyone out there? Ever heard of such strangeness?

For now, I'm going to check all of my connectors at the ECM and BCM for bent pins, and look for corroded ground connections. Any other problems I should look for?

DejaVUE ... do the mysterious codes clear by themselves, or do you have a tool to clear?

Can we assume the Vue runs OK other than the irritating SES lights?

What are the codes?

Yep, it runs fine as far as I can tell, aside from the SES. Fuel mileage hasn't suffered, it doesn't seem to be down on power, and it seems to run smoothly as ever.

As for the codes, this is where it gets even more strange. When I stop by an Autozone to pull the codes with their scanner, the scanner will tell me it finds no codes, but that the MIL status is "on." I can turn the MIL (malfunction indicator lamp - SES) off with an Autozone scanner. When the SES light is on, I pull the following six codes with my scanner (Equus Inova 3030b CanOBDII):

P0378
B3065
P0007
P0778 Pending
-|0365 Pending (I have no clue what the " -| " symbol means on this thing
P0007 Pending

After I erase those codes, the MIL/SES is off, but if I try to pull codes again, I get a different set of six equally perplexing codes:

P0378
B3065
B2590
P0778 Pending
-|0365 Pending
B2590 Pending

Yep, that should about clear things up, right?:ugh:

Oh, while I was doing a google search to try and decipher a couple of these DTC's, I found a thread on this forum that I resurrected last winter when I was having issues... My posts start on 11/18/2008:

FYI, I did go ahead and change out the battery at that time.

So, I take it by the no responses that nobody else can make any sense of this either?

Should I try a junkyard ECM?
